High Beam Assist - question for MY16 Octy vRS - Coding Module 09

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was enabling a fellow member's HBA on his MY16 Octy vRS. There was one thing that was slightly different from the instructions and it has thrown up a fault.

When recoding the module is says:

Change Byte 2 Bit 0-2 to a value of 03 using the dropdown menu for models with Xenons.

On this members car value 03 said something like this:

03 Lighting: Bi-Xenon Headlights with High Assist & Adaptive Cornering.

I think 02 was something like : 02 Lighting: Bi-Xenon Headlights with Light Assist

I should have grabbed a screen grab.

So should I have selected value 02 instead of 03?

Thanks.

Without a screenshot form the car you were working on a bit difficult to tell, but the Xenons do have adaptive cornering so 03 still sounds like the correct value.

I had the same on my Octy 3 vRS when I did the same change on Tuesday.

I selected O3, and used the car last night to test. Both adaptive cornering and high beam assist worked well!

By the way, my model was built mid-Feb this year.

@Higgy 69 - what was the fault it threw up?

Lights have to be off, engone not running, etc etc

Maxi dot says Fault: Light Assist.

Car (vRS) was built I think Sept '15. Owner will pop back over to mine after Easter so we can have a look.

Lights we off and engine was not running (does have KESSY though). I suppose the 03 cornering headlights could be a red herring, there are lots of things to adjust and I might have missed something like going into Module A5 'coding light assist High beam assist'.

Rear teardrop was also reported not to work. I will try coding it on mine to test.

Rear teardrop does work, the car needs to be moving.

Fault messages on Maxidot usually means a step has been missed.

Apologies, I have looked again today and my MY16 vRS shows exactly as per the instructions - I don't have the other option you mention, even though I have adaptive lights too :wonder:

I've got a brand new Octavia 1,8 TSI with high beam assist, and would like to change the speed when this is activated.

Now its 60 km/h but for all the small and narrow roads in Norway that is to fast

I'd like to change it to perhaps 50 km/h.

Is it possible?

Yes, it is one of the adaptation channels on the A5 camera from memory. Security code is 20103

Now it is 57km/h, I suggest to insert 30km/h or in narrow turns with slow speed you will get short beams again.

If the camera detects town it automatically turn of long beams anyway so this should not be a problem.
