Remap options

Featured Replies

Guys I'm looking to remap my current 105CR superb Greenline,

Been doing a bit of looking online but I'm looking for real advice,

My last Octavia was again a 105CR, non Greenline and I had that remapped along with the EGR & DPF removed, I know this goes against the grain with some folk, however I'm looking to keep the EGR & DPF in place time as I'm scared of any future VOSA tests that may be introduced over the next few years.

I've narrowed it down to 3 mappers

SuperChips, £365 41bhp gain 70 NM torque gain

Ecotune £400

Shark £399 30bhp gain 45nM torque gain

Now the thing I'm looking to know is if I map it with DPF in place, will I be likely to experience any DPF issues?

My cars a taxi and it's dreadful slow and lacks power, it needs mapped.

Ecotune figures are unknown as the car is dyno'd after being mapped but based on my last Octavia it will be similar to what that achieved and that was 140bhp & 295 NM torque ( I think )

Looking for advice and any tips are welcomed.

I'm based in Glasgow

When my Yeti Greenline (1.6tdi 105bhp) was mapped to stage 1 by Shark it achieved 149bhp, never had any issues with the DPF either :)

Personally I've never had a car mapped but I've often read posts on here by those that have. One name keeps coming up time after time where people can't sing their praises enough - Shark. That's where my money would be going

They also happen to be a Briskoda sponsor so you might get a discount if you ask nicely  http://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/154-shark-performance/

I would go jabbasport myself due to their meticulous attention to detail with their maps, but i've also used JR Tuning before, JR can ship you a 64-bit byteflash unit with a generic map on which you plug in, and within 20 seconds its all done!

My only advice with going for another company that quotes higher figures, Just watch how much pressure they run the turbo at, because it will not last long when run at silly boost to get an extra 10hp..

I have no experience with any of the tuners you mention but from previous experience I'd prefer to go with a tuner that tunes on the dyno. I had my previous car remapped on the dyno and I only got an extra 11 bhp peak, but working on the dyno he widened out the powerband a lot so the car was much more driveable through the rev range.

As others have said, beware very high peak power claims. You could be pushing the turbo to the edge of its performance envelope. It's also likely to be a dyno queen with very high peak figures but very peaky delivery - it's likely to be a pain to drive normally and may not be any better than stock in most driving situations.

If your willing to travel ADE Tuning don't do any generic maps, everyone is custom mapped on their RR. They did the stage 2 mapping on my Yeti project, the drivability is fantastic with a smooth power delivery pushing to 5000rpm in every gear (if you want to ;) )

I have had good experience with Superchips and would recommend them. I will be taking my Greenline to them in the near future and have been quoted the same figures as yourself. I took my Vauxhall Antara to them at the same time as my work colleague in his Octavia VRS TDi and we both had very good results and excellent service. At my branch - Canterbury, they offer you a free courtesy car for the day - they also did before and after dyno so you could visibly see the improvements of a power graph.

I really am looking to get a Shark Performance remap to my vRS, but ill be waiting for the next time they do their 20% off sale :)

i think i need a remap, but.......before or after Skoda do the emissions repairs?

Shark all the way, had 3 done by them now (including an 450 mile round trip to Mansfield) personally I wouldn’t go anywhere else. (although faboka does good maps for the older 130PD)

As for before or after the emission recall, Škoda have confirmed that the 1.2 & 2.0 TDi will require just a software update (basically a remap) and the 1.6 TDi will need a ‘flow transformer’ fitted as well as the software update, so if you intend to get the recall done it will be pointless remapping it before as you will need the remap to be put back on again afterwards (which all reputable tuners should do FOC... I know Shark certainly will)
