The complete ignorance of some people!

Featured Replies

Today, I popped in to tesco to do a bit of shopping.

I parked my lovely 1 week old vRS in the car park. I left plenty of room on either side.

Straight after I park, a lady parks next to me. I stay next to the car and wait to see if she smacks her door in to my car. She has seen me and the car (it still had its lights on when I was parking).

She opens the door and bashes her door into mine. I obviously turn round and have a go.

She explains she saw the door but "respectfully did it". WTF does "respectfully" not giving a two hoots and smacking her door in to mine mean?

When I tell her that she will be paying for any damage, she tells me I'm the reason for false accusations and claims!

What is this world coming too!?!

Lesson learnt - park the furthest away from the shop near a wall. Won't be making that mistake again.

Was there damage?

Luckily there wasn't.

The door handles stick out quite far on the Octavia and I think I was her door handle that hit.

I think that saved the day.

It's just the complete ignorance and lack of respect for other people's property. Just baffles me that she saw the car and still did it. Her children got out of the back seat and managed not to hit the car tho!

For many people, a car is just a tool and they don't see it any differently than they would getting scratches on a hammer. Just part of ownership and standard wear and tear.

I realise that but this is just common courtesy or simply manners, especially when she saw the car, saw me standing there and still did it.

Anyway, lesson learnt. Some people don't give a monkeys about other people or their property.

If you're doing that, you have to dump it at a haphazard angle, keeps them away a bit.

@StevesTruck - that might just be the solution. I always thought people who did this couldn't park but obviously they are purposefully being awkward to avoid people parking next to them.

I never go to Tesco without my kids in tow, so I can park in those big wide P&C spaces.

The only damage I have had for as long as I can remember has been when I have been parked, usually in a supermarket car park.

The weirdest time was when an announcement came over the Tesco speakers with my reg number, and the bloke who had bashed me (and quietly driven off to another parking spot) had been spotted and caught by other shoppers who called the staff, so I got his details and witnesses.

Even weirder was it turned out that his son owned a (good) local bodyshop and begged me to let him do the repair (which was very minor)  for free - said his dad drove into something or other about twice a week!

Repair was good so all's well that ends well. But we can all sure do without that aggro.....

I make a point of parking away at the back of the car park to stop idiots from banging the door, you can garrente when you come back to the car there is someone who parks beside you and there's no cars in the immediate area. I can understand doors occasionally get banged if the bays are exceptionally small, not that I'm saying it's acceptable but what boils my p1ss is people have no idea the cost and implications of fixing such damage, they think some how it's ok as it's a car park. And when you challenge them they mostly have some indignant attitude as there some how there victim. So in the most part the conclusion I come to is there ignorant scum.

Ignorant, no manners and couldn't give a toss attitude is what is wrong with people today.

Yeah it almost begs the question if it's worth having a nice car in this day and age with people's attitudes towards others property being the way it is.

My 6 month old GTD had a dink in the drivers back door already but not bad considering its done 10k miles and been parked all over the place.

My previous GTD had been keyed (under the ownership of its previous keeper) so it could be worse.

I was sat in my car a few years ago eating take away with wife when my car started rocking!!!

The women in the car next to us had pulled her door wide open and as she got in her car it jammed her door against my car.

So then proceeded to try a rocking motion to hope it would unjam the door WTF put a proper dent in my door in front of the door handle, I opened the window in disbelief and was given a right royal mouthful by the horrid women before I could say anything.

Hate car parks, I drive on by my local supermarket and get either my work van or the wife's car and go back to do the shopping.

Maybe im old skool (I'm 33 before you ask) but I learnt to respect others and their property. Society really needs to get a grip of itself.

I find age doesn't come into it (I'm your age) its just some people are careless or have a lack of thinking. I park at the far end of the supermarket car park or in the child bays if possible as it reduces the risk of being door slammed.

When my new Octy arrives, I will be one of the local Facebook page "parking like a tw*t" victims on a regular basis as I WILL be using two spaces!!!! Tw*t or not, allowances have to made for inconsiderate dicks in their £500 Ka's!

Pretty sure it doesn't specify the parent has to be the one driving.

Haha that is brilliant and I'm going to take my mum shopping more often when I get my new car!

I was thinking the same, post loads of pics to YPLAC on Twitter and now realise I could be in the pic when the new car arrives!

I know it's got nothing to do with age, rather the lack of values and standards, common decency and respect for others. I did then move my car and park in a secluded area.

In this day and age, where no one will accept fault even when caught in the act, I think I'm going to have to become this type of person - park at the back, near a wall, at an odd angle over two spaces to reduce the chance of costly dents, scrathes or worse by inconsiderate f*ckwits.

Is there a 360 degree dash cam system???

Use the system on the Google Street view cars,

Just reading this thread has got me shaking my head. So many b*llends and c*ckwombles with absolutely zero respect for others or their property these days. Glad there was no real damage. It's pretty sad that we have to resort to such evasive action though.
