Right thanks for the help everyone... operation "hot drink" is now complete

few notes:

1) standard headunit (symphony) uses kenwood removal keys

2) you can only mount cupholder on one side (left)

and you have to remove the headunit, the lil box underneath, the heater controls trim and the left hand button on the top.

then undo the 2 torx screws, take out the blanking plate, insert new cupholder and put back together

Looks nice - I used Kenwood keys to get my H.U out too, because it is a Kenwood.

I like the look of the radio too in the vRS. Looks better than my original H.U.

I don't think I need a cup-holder TBH, not saying it looks bad, but I've found the passenger seat rail handle works well as a bottle holder, and I don't bother with cups in the car because spillage on my seats = stains. :( - They're in a bad way at the moment anyway, and could do with a good shampoo'ing.

jason i belive it is the new in dash cd HU the silverline i had the other week had one and to be honest they are pants worse than the symphony! (if that is possible )

why not take your car and get it professionaly valeted for the winter the lady friend might like it jason

that one in mine is a symphony... i think its really good!!!

had to adjust the speaker settings, the tweeter in the back door is too close to head.. but i think it sounds better than the clio!!!!

trust me a new HU and you will realise how good the furbie speakers are (eg screaming over wales with metallica and ironmaiden screaming out, they seem to handle bass well and i really like them.)

and how poor the symphony unit is

Any pro-valetting will be done by me. I know the job will take twice as long and will probably be half as good, but cleaning my car is something I ONLY like to do myself - unless I was loaded and could pay for some like Gossy to give it the treatment...

This weekend I feel will be a cleaning one, now that the weather is going to be good. A coat of autoglym (or two) methinks.

I blew up the rear speakers and the left front was almost shot by the time of offloading after listening to the likes of Metallica on my old Pioneer HU! Was running 7x10's in the rear shelf at the end. OMG were they powerful!!! :eek:

Talking of Metallica. Got tickets to go see them at Earls Court on December 20th! :p :speaker:

We sure do!! Been wanting to see Metallica for years and managed to get 2 tickets for the top tier right at the back of the building! Got to be worth it though! :p

I've been watching this thread as the dealer has ahd two goes at sorting the same squeek on ours so now I know what you've done I'll go and do the same... may try to fit the cupholder at the same time too!
