VRS Oil Use Update

Featured Replies

Afternoon All,

thought id give a quick update on my VRS Estate

Got the car in Late April 2015 - on lease, fully maintained inc tyres

approx 12,500 miles in i got a low oil warning light. Car was immediately taken to a dealer and filled up FOC.

I have now done approx 16,000 miles after a year - i've just checked the oil.

At the end of march it was 3/4 full against the dipstick

a month later its now around 1/2 full against the dipstick.

Its using a surprising amount of oil - especially when compared to some other people on here....

Mostly motorway miles driving 99% of the time at legal limit.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

cheers

Nope, not a single drop used in over 11000 miles

Dipstick min to max is approximately 1 litre, so it hasnt used too much.

But please check your levels more often, monthly ideally.

Whilst its not your car and you dont care if it blows up, it will be you stuck at the roadside waiting for recovery at no doubt a very inconvenient moment.

Surely if you run a lease car out of oil its still your fault and you would be responsible for paying for any resulting damage?

It's a lease car. You won't be keeping it? When your done it will be someone else's problem?

My car is a 1.4 (so not a direct comparison) and it used 1.5 litres before about 9000mi. Since then, it hasn't used any noticeable amount.

You drove 12500 miles without checking the oil??? Dear god....
