Dilemma? Please help

Featured Replies

Finally got the email today that my car has arrived at the dealership! Yeah!! However, it is in Mansfield, unfortunately not just around the corner for me. Dealer has said they don't have sufficient staff to arrange a weekend collection, and during the week for me is near impossible. They have offered to deliver which I am sceptical about as would much prefer to collect in person just in case there are no issues identified with the car before I pass over a load of cash!

Any thoughts as to what you would do?

I could wait another 4 weeks when will be on holiday but that will be too painful, considering I originally ordered on 3rd Dec 2015!

I'll do a midweek pickup for you and will even do a complimentary running in service!

;-).

I would personally demand a weekend collection, I bet they have enough staff to sell you a car, so make them take the time out to give you yours!

I am paying up front for mine on Thursday, with a Friday delivery. I think it's coming from Preston up north, down to me in Devon, way to far for me to pick up from them, so it is being trailered down!

Tell them you want weekend collection and that collection during the week is extremely inconvenient. If they refuse then ask to speak to the dealer principle. If the dealer principle refuses then speak to Skoda UK. You are the customer, and the only reason their business exists is to serve you, not the other way around!

Insist on a trailer/transporter delivery and on making payment/finalising the finance only when the car is received and inspected

I would always do it at the dealership unless its a dealer you trust very well.

If there was any problems they can be discussed before payment to ensure you get a good resolution prior to handing over your money.

You can push the dealer for a weekend delivery.

In the end they dont want a car sat in the parking for a month that you havent paid for.

Alternatively, could you not ask for a late night or early morning collection instead?

I had a friend who ordered a 1.6Diesel and the dealer made a mistake & ordered a 1.6petrol.

He had already signed, paid & the car was delivered to his house.

The dealer offered him the 500gbp retail price difference between the two to keep & it took many weeks of phonecalls to get to a final solution.

It will always be hard to agrue that scratches, imperfections or problems were present when the car was delivered once it is on your drive.

The dealer will say "it was fine in the showroom".

A handover only needs 1 person (usually the same salesman that sold you the car).

It should take 1 hour but I've never spent more than 15 minutes to do it.

They should be able to find time e.g. on Saturday morning as soon as the dealership opens.

as above - i'd push for the weekend handover too.

Thanks for your responses guys...I have agreed a delivery on transporter to my house after work on monday, FOC.  No payment will be made until I have thoroughly checked the car over and am happy with it.  I have requested they don't prep it at all either as don't want no dealer mit near it!!  Booked in for a full detail in a few weeks so less correction required if they don't go near it...just hope they comply!!

Name and shame.

Name and shame.

No need, presuming it's the main dealer, it's not difficult to work it out.

Ah, missed the town name in the first post... must go to Specsavers.
