If you read the comments, its to highlight how much better the audi is against a establish fast car in its size group.

It is not a Fast Estate, not even a Hot Estate.

A Seat Leon Cupra ST 280/290 is a Fast Estate in its size group,

or a Golf R Estate.

 

It is pointless,

but something that is of interest is how many Volkswagen Group Vehicles including powerful and AWD cars are crap off the line Unless Traction Control is off, and also how many are not near the published 0-100km (62 mph) times unless launch control is used.

 

0-62 mph is a good comparison and useful world wide, but lots of powerful cars do rather badly to 62mph but it is a totally different story 0-100 mph plus.

and thats an old rs6 (now there is a facelift performance version, 605hp)

 

Watching audi launch after vrs its pathetic, it reaches 100 so fast from a drivers perspective...

Still - the Audi costs 3 times the price and it is only twice as quick 0-60...

This is a Bog Standard FWD 180ps Fabia vRS Estate vs a AWD Nissan GTR with idiot proof Launch Control.

I think it was putting out 190ps on a Dyno on Super Unleaded. furbytom could confirm.

(Fabia was around £18,000 or less. No Launch Control, DSG put in D and throttle floored...)

Is a GTR's 0-60 mph not supposedly half that of a Skoda Fabia Twincharger?

 

Well this idiot with Idiot Proof Launch Control must have got it wrong,

or there was too much traction, because it bogged clearly.

Enough Brain Power in a Nissan GTR to power the Space Station, just not to launch cleanly.

Rapid cars can be rather crap 0-30 mph. a Fabia vRS is not good 0-30 mph, but then 30-90 mph leaves lots behind including cars that have twice or more the power.

Octavia was a manual, Audi an auto. At least compare like for like.

I think "battle" might be pushing it a bit. Ha ha. It's interesting to watch but really on this basis you could put a 1.0 micra and 5.0 merc SL and say "battle"

It's all about perspective I guess. I like to see that the overpriced normal cars can deliver something for the money, even if they are just warmed over executive run of the mill vehicles.

Cost is obviously an issue, for 60k I'd want something pretty special. Although cost isn't always the biggest factor, I'm sure I could beat that time and distance on a £3000 GSXR K4 or maybe even my old hayabusa.

Good contests lol. The Audi can push a sportsbike in a race so what chance does a 220 horses (or PS) octavia have.

Put the Audi against and Merc amg black series maybe. That's more fun.

Put the octavia against a Renaultsport clio.

I was more impress at how quick the Audi stopped compared to the skoda. Looked more controlled too. I assume the Audi has 6pots?

You pays big money and you want your brakes to stop you.

But from 60 mph i want them to just stop the car without all the dramatics and needing to hold on to the steering wheel for dear life.

Just saying I ended up next to a brand new Audi RS6 at the lights today and couldn't help but think of this thread and smile

And no, I didn't even try - let him shoot off before I shifted into gear and calmly drove away from the lights.
