My Garage - Ooooh, Interesting!

Featured Replies

Hullo

Thanks to Skoda UK, I've received some interesting news about the dealer I bought my car from. They're a franchise garage who also sell Mitsubishi and Kia, and Skoda. BUT, it seems that Skoda have got a wee bit annoyed with them with regards to massive numbers of complaints against them and their "Skoda" status has been REVOKED!

I never personally complained to Skoda UK about my garage, but this sudden turn of events has left me needing a new garage to get my car serviced at, meaning extra mileage for me. :( - I can only hope I strike up a good rapore with another garage and they're better at coping with modded cars, especially with my warranty still having another 9 months to run.

Unless you found a local independant garage. And getting them to service it wouldn't void your warranty, providing they did it properly.

Jason, are you sure it's because of complaints that they no longer have the Skoda dealership? I ask 'cos I know of an EXCELLENT skoda garage which is no more - now just a Kia dealer. The reason they lost the Skoda was nothing to do with their quality of work (which was absolutely fantastic!) but because they were in a too remote location and not enough real estate size-wise.

I know that in the last month or so, a lot of skoda dealers have been asked to shut down because they're not considered big enough to be economically viable

Maybe Niki can shed some light on the matter ?

Ahem. How do I put this? :D It WAS Niki that shod some light on this situation. Perhaps, they didn't put up a fight due to Kia taking off? Everytime I went there, there seemed to be more & more Kias in their showroom and on the forecourt.

Anyway - Another downside is I can't test drive a vRS Fabia? :( - Well, At least not until 12/12/03 when I'll at least get a ride in one.

Spoke to a chap at a dealer round here at a dealership that recently gave up their franchise - he explained that Skoda want showrooms of a certain size and quality to have their cars displayed in, to create a certain corporate image. Cost of expansion was about a million, and the dealership couldn't afford this so gave up the franchise...

I never said a word. boss, honest.... *shakes in fear at poss retribution*

Supply and demand not quite equal perhaps? ;)

I won't tell if you don't tell him, Niki. Promise, stick a needle in my eye, etc etc...

I just thought I ought to tell a few people.

ROB - I suspect that the garage couldn't cope either. They only ever had about 3 octy's in the shoroom and half a dozen skuds outside - compared to the number of bloody Jap cars that were there... If Skoda were after a big showroom, they wouldn't have wanted to let my garage keep the franchise. Although the phenominal number of complaints could have been a perfectly timed reason for them to revoke it...

Surely there's no deceit at Skoda UK? Noooooo. :D

My dealer (Hi to all at Derek Slack's  ) are re-locating to a brand new site in a matter of weeks. Seems to be happening rather a lot.

My dealer sell nothing but Skodas and have extended their showroom - even got air-con in there now.

Given the amount of erm, "older" drivers in their catchment who all drive skodas, I'd say they were doing ok! (fingers crossed - they offer fantastic service)

My dealer is doing ok to. Spoke to them about the dealer closures, no problems for them. I guess its because so many people come from further afield to get there cars serviced because customer care is so good.

we extendended our showroom a few years back and are still having to move to big town to keep franchise.

Extendended ?

That'll be an extension of an extension then ? :p

Maybe when they have to move, the old place will have to be demolished. Then the HAMMER can be put to some serious destructive use. :D
