Bolero in Pre-FL with factory MFSW

Featured Replies

How much Rusty? Will need one shortly.

Well, I could do one for £5 posted, which is more or less the same as the Ebay ones. Not much to be made profitwise really, but I use them if I'm fitting a unit more than actually selling them.

No worries. Will drop you a PM.

OK so I've got this fitted and it mostly works.

Mute and change tracks up and down works fine from the steering wheel.

Volume buttons do not do anything.

Even coding the Bolero with sort press steering wheel option made no difference.

Is this something that I'm going to have to live with?

I couldn't see any other obvious options to enable.

I know this won't be a much of help to solve the problem but in my pre fl with factory fitted mfsw the volume buttons worked as well. On the left side, illumination (obviously) and mute worked too but not sure if "skipping" buttons did, they suppose to skip between cds but I never had any cd in.

What convenience module have you got fitted Mike?

Even though my maxidot is factory fitted it's only the midline unit so no convenience option in the maxidot.

I'm wondering if that could be the cause?

Ahh..... I think I have found the answer in another post.

Bugger.

Hmm...anyone want to swap a 2010 Delphi Bolero for an earlier one? :)

One point of note - if you buy a Bolero from a 2010 MY car they are a different manufacturer than the earlier Bolero.

You will need the new CAN Gateway to stop battery drain, your steering wheel volume controls won't work with it (but next/prev track will), the screen will be extremely dim unless you flick the headlights on and off to kick the backlight in to action, you will not get any display on Maxidot from the Bolero, and the SD card has a limit of about 1000 mp3 tracks, regardless of the size of the SDHC card (I have a 32Gb which has about 18Gb of mp3s on it).

Earlier Bolero's will still need the CAN Gateway upgrade, but will have none of the other issues in 2006MY cars. They will however require a firmware upgrade (dealer only - unless it has already been done) otherwise it takes them about a week to index a 32Gb SDHC card every time you turn them on.

The later Bolero's are designed for FL cars only and have small niggles with pre-FL cars. Nothing major, the only annoying point is the backlight really.

Edit - you can't use the boot mounted CD Changer with the newer Bolero's either.

Hmmmm, I don't suppose you ever took any screenshots of your coding options?

There seemed to be very limited options through long coding, and certainly no options to change BAP/DDP.

Does it have to be done another way?

Gateway is: 1K0 907 530AA

Hmm, I'm fairly sure that I tried  070004000001 but I'm not 100 % sure. It could have been 010004000001

I did have trouble getting it to accept a coding change though.

I'll have a quick look later on, I have my laptop with me today.

So if I wanted to change from say 010004000001 to 070004000001, I'd actually input 07000400000100 ?

Coding not accepted.

Seems to make all other changes ok on first go now.

One thing I have noticed.

Your radio PN Mike is 1Z0 035 156 F

The one I have is: 1Z0 035 156 G

After a bit more digging, I can only come to the conclusion that to get a Bolero working properly in a pre-facelift you need an earlier Bolero 1Z0 035 156 F made by Blaupunkt.

Anyone want to swap a 2010 Delphi for a 2009 Blaupunkt? :)
