Buying A Fab Vrs

Featured Replies

Hello all and greetings from Finland, the land of snow!

After a period of googling I found this nice forum of yours, the Skoda fans. I've been looking for a car for a couple of months now and Fabia RS (or vRS as you call it here) is the number one on the list. It has five doors for easy entry and a fine motor in that class.

I've been negotiating with the local Skoda dealer about the purchase, but unfortunately he has no vRS's around to introduce. I've had to make my mind only by glancing through the few pictures the big internet has to offer.

I have a couple of questions about the car to present-day vRS owners. In the pictures the seats are relatively light-coloured, do they become shabby easily? Though, I don't have kids (yet, 18 yrs), so nobody is going to jump on the seats with rubber boots.

As there are very few pictures of the car available, could someone enlighten me and give a link to comprehensive galleries or alternatively shoot some pics with a digicam? :) Especially interior (and trunk) pictures would be highly valued.

Well, after all, I'm thankful for any feedback.

Welcome to briskoda!

I cant really comment on the Fabia vRS yet (mine is on order) but there are plenty on here who can!

For some good pictures see here

Look for Fabia vRs in the photo bank section.

Welcome to the forums.. and good choice of car :)

The Fabia vRS has only been available for a month or so here, so i cant really comment about how the seats will look over time, but it looks like a hardwearing kind of fabric that will shampoo well if needed.

theres a thread somewhere on here with lots of pictures.. i shall have a quick look for it..

Here it is..

if you need any other pictures. i can get my digi camera out tomorrow :)

Thank you both for great links! :) The first one has some good high-res ones and second some new perspectives to the car.

One more question: is the silver part of the gear knob some sort of metal or just plastic?

its plastic.. good job really, it would be freezing in winter otherwise!

I was wondering why a lot of the threads span a lot of pages, and now I've figured out why. Colin!!!!!!! Your sig takes up twice as much space as most of your posts! I'll be suffering from RSI in my wheel finger soon. ;):D

sorry.. im trying to "design" a nice funky flash based sig anyway :D

Was test driving Superb TDI 1.9. The dealer _could_ have told that the car had slicks fitted. Well, it was all slipping on the snowy roads. The engine was powerful though, no problems. I'll just have to wait if the dealer can get a Fab vRS from the importer.

Good choice of car woom! ;) May I suggest a nice shade of yellow (let the p*ss taking commence) like the one in the link in my sig! :D

BTW. Welcome to Briskoda.

Hey, are the sill plates fitted by default or are they extra equipment?

I noticed that the 1.9 TDI Superb comes with only five gears but Fabia vRS has six. I guess the Fab gears are a bit shorter then?

On the subject of the light coloured seats, so far my sons best mate has managed to get oil on the rear seat and my son got charcaol over the passenger seat (please don't ask).

A good scrub with some turtle wax foam cleaner has brought them up like new. They are now scotchgaurded (courtesy of Toughseal) so I'm not too worried.

Kids are now barred from the Furby and wife gets the Octy back this week so the leather won't show the child dirt up anyway and if it does it's her car so she can clean it!!!!!

woom,

yes, the kick plates are standard fit, as are carpet mats with vRS embroiderd onto them.

i belive the 6-speed box in the Fabia actually has longer ratios.. something to do with all that torque in a small car :D

70mph in 6th has the engine going at less than 2000rpm.

Good choice of car. The vRS would be the Furby I'd have bought if it had been out when we bought the elegance TDi. The reasoning in calling it the vRS is the fact that Ford got a bit jeleous when it launched the Focus RS saying it had the copyright to it. Pity they gave away the copyright to the name GT40 eh?

What you guys think, should I buy a vRS next week (with only speed limiter) or make a factory order and get all the equipment (limiter, side airbags, xenons etc)? :)

Does anybody have pics of the backseat footroom?

Are the xenons worth of the price?

welcome

If you buy next week in a few months time you will be wishing you waited for Xeons, they are great and will sure dazzle you with all that white snow!! - if you can I would wait. When I drive my normal halogen cars now I sure miss the bi-xeons that are fitted to my Superb.

John

The Xenons really are worth waiting for IMHO. They make the view ahead so much clearer.

Yeah. Guess I'll wait the 2-3 months then and be happy for the rest of my life with the fancy equipment. It's a shame the Fab doesn't come with bi xenons.

I agree with Graeme, xenons are worth the wait - and cost.

Now I've had those, I doubt I'd want to go back to normal halogen lights.

The dealer said that it comes with fully automatic Climatronic air conditioning, could this be true? I've only heard of semi-automatics in Fabbies.

  • 10 months later...

Picked my new fab vRS on Fri, treated the seats yesterday morning with Jewelultra Diamondbrite fabric protector, and Im told thats is all they'll need to combat tough stains. Go for it woom, i've been driving now for 15 years and have had driven pretty much everything. I didn#t even test drive the fab before ordering it, i hadnt even seen one up close and in the flesh, however it is the best car i have ever had/driven.

GO FOR IT :D
