Spare wheel canister

Featured Replies

Had my car in for 4-year service and they said the "spare wheel" canister had expired. Is this something that needs replacing with a Skoda part or can you buy any generic canister?

You have a "can of gloop" instead of an actual wheel and tyre?

Yes, exactly. It's the can of gloop that seems to have an expiry date and I was just wondering if you can replace it with any generic gloop ;)

As long as the gloop is of sufficient volume to fill your tyre size, I can see no reason why not. After all, just because the car came with $brand1 tyres ex-works doesn't mean that you can't replace them with $brand2.

OTOH you can not re-inflate a torn sidewall with gloop, so maybe it's time to think about buying a wheel and tyre, plus a jack and wheelbrace?
