I haven't seen 'a wee day out' yet but know some of his earlier videos. One is mainly in Edinburgh and involves jumping off the castle walls and all sorts. Very very impressive.

Quite a bit of this is filmed in Strathspey.....by "back garden" for the roads.....

I watched that earlier today. I don't know whether he specced out the route before he rode it but I am very impressed that he made it down in one piece.

Not to take away from the magic of the film, Danny MacAskill does this for a living, he's probably spent two weeks going up and down that hill. He has blooper reels at the end of his other films showing just how many attempts it has taken to get one move right.

You can see the occasional rock set out to mark a route for him as well in this, plus there are cuts in the film between the gopro and the drone footage so it's proably not one continuous run (might be though).

 

Still, he's very good at what he does.

Too right he walks the routes, prepares sections, rides various sections in preparation because an error might result in death..

 

Just as a Free Climber will abseil routes, do some gardening and cleaning out of nests etc, even climb the routes roped before attempting the route without aid.

This is Danny MacAskill last week @ Tarlair Outdoor Swimming Pool Macduff where i went almost every night or weekend when young. 

The sun was always shining and the water was still always freezing.

 

Not my pictures they were on one of the Macduff Community Facebook sites.   There are lots of Skate Boarding & BMX vids being filmed there these days and lots of stuff with Model Fishing Boats being sailed.
