Those words she repeated so robotically, “strong and stable,” would ring just as hollow in the mouth of any other Conservative politician. This is a party that has plunged its country into an existential crisis because it was too weak to stand up to a minority of nationalist zealots and tabloid press barons. It is as strong as a jellyfish and as stable as a flea.

Airbus (AIR.PA) could move production of new aircraft models out of Britain if the European plane-maker's "non-negotiable" demands over the free movement of people and trade tariffs are not delivered in upcoming Brexit talks, the Sunday Times reported.

DUP has a similar "wish list" to UK Con government with the EU.....

At least the DUP acknowledges there will be customs arrangements but it sounds like they want the total costs shared across the UK as well as the Winter fuel payment still being for all and Dementia tax being shelved.

http://www.mydup.com/publications/view/2017-westminster-manifesto

DUP Manifesto:-

DURING THE NEGOTIATIONS THE DUP WANTS TO SEE
A FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING PRIORITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
1. Successful outward-looking knowledge-based economy in Northern Ireland
2. Ease of trade with the Irish Republic and throughout the European Union
3. Maintenance of the Common Travel Area
4. Strengthened relationships across the four components parts of the United Kingdom with no internal borders
5. Northern Ireland-specific solutions achieved through active Executive engagement
6. Particular circumstances of Northern Ireland with a land border with the EU fully reflected
7. Frictionless border with Irish Republic assisting those working or travelling in the other jurisdiction
8. Progress on new free trade deals with the rest of the world
9. Comprehensive free trade and customs agreement with the European Union
10. Northern Ireland established as a hub for trade from Irish Republic into the broader UK market
11. Customs arrangements which facilitate trade with new and existing markets
12. Confidence and capacity within local businesses to maximize opportunities
13. Business to retain competiveness and not face additional costs
14. Arrangements to facilitate ease of movement of people, goods and services...............................

Lots of people & Political Parties or members want lots of things.

But BREXIT means BREXIT and that means Northern Ireland will not be in the EU and the Republic of Ireland will be.

So just the same old will go on for a long time yet, as in jack **** other than many bumping gums,.

And what we know is that countries outside the EU is that they have to do customs entries for goods that go in and out of those EU and as the UK will be outside the Intrastat system we in the UK will do export and import declarations for commercial movement of significant values.

Hopefully people will be able to be able to move freely back and forth across the border and cross border shopping will continue as that is huge for both those north and south of the NI/Eire border.  Boot legging likely to be a huge industry again and especially as Irish VAT continues to be hiked and NI VAT will probably need dropping to keep prices affordable to NI and GB citizens.  NI and Eire customs will need to be active to sometimes stop people to see if they are involved in boot-legging/smuggling.

An EU negotiator said the 2 year deadline could be increased by a year ie until 2020, if all agree.

Maybe need to unify Ireland then.

As we know the illegal activities go on now with people getting easily into the UK via the Republic of Ireland and the UK treasury loses out already.

Diesel fuel has long time been an issue with much of what is used in the six counties being legally bought, bootleggged/smuggled in from Eire meaning a massive loss of potential revenue for the UK Exchequer.  Alcohol and Tobacco too but more of dubious origin.

6 countries should, perhaps, have its own excise duties separate from the mainland of England/Scotland/Wales which I think we do for Northern Scotland, parts of England like Exmoor.

There is a 5 pence a litre subsidy in some postcode areas of the UK, hardly 'it's own excise duty'.

Available in a postcode area north of Pitlochry and in areas with some of the cheapest fuel in the UK before the subsidy.

Danny Alexander's little bribe when in Government but he was still punted. Got a title though.

Maybe his ex party leader will get a Knighthood as well.

Once on the Gravy TRain you have the ticket for life.

I think "Judas" as a proper label, rather than a title of Sir, for Danny "Beaker" and old Nick.

Beaker (Muppet).jpg                                                                            Image result for nick clegg red faced devil

Surprised NI did not get the 5p per litre subsidy when places like Exmoor (EX35) did.  Expect the DUP has a nice long shopping list of requirements, at least a billion pounds worth I expect, certainly more than the £150M the election cost the country.

Let us remind ourselves that the three requirement of the EU before EU-UK FTA can start are Divorce payment, EU Citizens in UK and Ireland.

If UK walks away perhaps the EU will apply for WTO Dispute Settlement against the UK if there is significant anti-competitive behavior in NI ?

Oh Danny Boy!

Inflation up again due to the BREXIT vote hitting the value of the pound's fall since BREXIT.......

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40259392

Inflation 'spike'

Amit Kara, head of UK macroeconomic forecasting at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, said: "We expect inflation to rise further over the course of this year and to reach a peak in the final quarter of 2017.  "This spike in inflation will exert further downward pressure on real household disposable income, at a time when wage growth remains modest and in turn squeeze consumer spending."  Nick Dixon, investment director at life insurance and pensions firm Aegon, said: "This high rate will particularly affect the purchasing power of retirees locked into a fixed income and the growing number whose wages have failed to keep pace."

Inflation graph

Currency not doing too well either since the destabilizing election, bumpy road ahead........

Ian Duncan MEP just failed to get a seat in Westminster after a 3rd recount in which Pete Wishart MP was re-elected,

no problems to the Conservative and Unionists,

just make him a Lord and there he can be at the BREXIT negotiations.

EDIT..

DOH,

there was me again not doing some research, his CV / Biog /Wiki search.

So probably just the kind that is needed in BREXIT negotiations by education, training and former employment,

not just a Career Politician without a clue.

Go for it Lord Duncan of Springbank.

UK caves in to EU demand to agree divorce bill before trade talks

Quote

In contrast to well-rehearsed EU positions on issues such as the financial settlement and Irish borders, British officials admit they did not bring any pre-prepared negotiating papers to share with their counterparts - insisting instead that their overall ambitions were made clear by the government’s earlier white paper and Lancaster House speech.

Boom time in England & Wales for any Companies that specialise in removal or Decorative Panels on high rise buildings and recyling and environmental disposal of said panels.

So high access & buildings workers, building material & tool suppliers, surveyors, haulage / skip hire etc etc.

No excuse for unemployment in the various trades and industries in London and elsewhere around the UK that do that kind of work.

Interesting times for Government & Local Authority budgets, and Housing Associations even insurers.

One year on..........

Anyone got their Sovereignty back yet?

Anyone seen new GP surgeries or funding for the NHS yet?

Anyone seen a fall in immigration from NON EU migrants?

Anyone feel better off now that inflation is at 2.9%

Anyone looking forward to their summer holiday now that the £'s tanked?

Anyone noticed that they were sold a lemon yet?

Be honest about what you voted for.

  • 2 weeks later...

Project fear is project fact yet again.

"If the same levels of investment are seen in the second half of the year, it would bring total annual spend on the UK car industry to just £644m — nearly one-quarter of the amount invested two years ago and a sharper fall than many in the industry had expected.

“It’s very difficult to cost investment if you don’t know what your output price is going to be,” said Mike Hawes"
