  • Probably this is the direct link for MIB 2 Amundsen: http://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/STD2_0730_EU1_2017.zip

I downloaded, one month ago, maps ECE2017 for columbus. It was cca 22gb.

The 4g one is described as:

Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine

ECE 2 2016/2017 (4,00GB)

ECE 1 2016/2017 (12,00GB)

So you don't merge it or anything then?

I just downloaded the second one and it all seems to work, for the UK.

So you don't merge it or anything then?

You wouldn't be able to merge the files as the SD card is only 16GB - there's not enough space.

Just found that out...

Downloaded the Columbus one and exactly the same version number as the one that has been available since June - V03959801BK0157 ECE 2017

Thanks for checking and confirming andyvee. Suspected it was due to the P157 in the URL, but didn't want to leave my Pc on downloading for a full day to find it was the same!

I maybe missing something, but since the latest update on my columbus if I select new destination, I can't see an option for a postcode !?

Yep, exactly the same file size also - 25 715 287 947 bytes

Press Town and the postcode option comes up, called Pstcd, or similar

I've done what I had to do in June to get the P157 maps loaded to the update portal and posted on the Skoda UK facebook page - they sorted it out last time.

I suspect though that they released the P157 maps early as the P153 ones were messed up ..........

FWIW, a number of owners here in Australia have been told by Skoda Customer services that a 'big update' for Australia is due at the end of November/early December. This was in relation to map updates 'being made easier' for Australian owners. When I took delivery of my car last month I mentioned this to the salesman and he said that whilst he'd not heard of it, it did tally with a date of 25th November that the service manager had written down, or something to that effect.

At the moment Skoda update portal still shows the 2016/2017 maps for MIB1/MIB2 Amundsen.

Thank you Aki78, another successful update for my  MIB1 Amundsen

No problem. :)

Just checked and the update portal is still showing the older 2016/2017 maps and 'next update in May' for my VIN, pfff...

update portal looks as though it has been updated - dont get excited ive been wrong before

Guys I can't get this to update on my Columbus.

I have put the 2 folders and the text file on the root of the SD Card, go to update software on the screen and it doesn't pickup the updated maps.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm using a Mac, formatted the SD Card to exFAT.

Cheers.

That's pretty much all I did with mine. Card formatted as exFAT and the MIB1 and MIB2 folders along with the text file at the root.

Do you have access to a Windows Pc? I'm not a Mac user but I have a feeling they create a hidden folder called MacOSX or something, which usually shows when you plug into a Windows Pc. I think the Columbus units are very specific about the files/folders on the card and if it differs slightly it won't accept it.

Use a Windows PC and FAT32.

A Mac formatted ExFAT SD card worked on my Columbus MIB2 the last time I tried it, but perhaps it is safer to try extracting in Windows. Do you have access to Windows, perhaps via Bootcamp, VMWare or Virtualbox?

I'm surrounded my PCs here, but the only machine that has an SD card reader is a Mac Mini and it doesn't like my card (won't format it) - the iMac at home is fine though.

I have windows 10 installed on my mac so I'll boot camp

It and format there and copy over the files. Hope it works, cheers all.

Maps version 0730 ECE1 2017 installed in my Amundsen MIB2.

This is a common problem when using a Mac.

MacOS creates some additional hidden files on the SD-card which the Columbus doesnt like.

You can either use a Windows PC or search the forum as there are a couple of Mac Tools which can "clean" these files after copying.

You can also use a USB stick or portable hard-drive for the update (doesnt need to be an SD-card)

I think the hard-drive method might have less problems than the SD-card as mine is usually full of files, work backups, mp3s & movies.
