  • Used the MIB1 link above & loaded the new 2017 maps onto my SD card & all is working as it should  cheers for the link aki78

  • Probably this is the direct link for MIB 2 Amundsen: http://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/STD2_0730_EU1_2017.zip

Cheers aki78  have you managed to test the new version of MIB1 maps? seeing as there not on the skoda update portal, I take it this new version is the exact same as if it was on the skoda update portal.

Will try the Columbus MIB1 maps tonight.

Thanks Aki.

Any volunteers to answer all the questions about not being able to unzip or install the maps correctly? ;)

Just loaded on the MIB1 Amundsen maps with no problems.

Only frustration is the time lag there seems to be for new roads appearing in the database.  A new bypass road around my town was opened on Apr 25th.  It's still not on the map.  No big issue - I do know it's there after all.  However - it does mean then when I don't know where I am, there's the very real possibility of 6 month+ old roads not being on the map as well....

Openstreetmaps had the new road up on its website the day after opening.  Took Google Maps < 1 week.

Another nail in the coffin of embedded nav. systems if you ask me....

My Update Portal has been showing the ECE2017 maps for many weeks and I successfully downloaded the P157 maps at that time. There is a big discrepancy between users as to when the Update Portal actually updates!

Anyone got a link for the MIB2 Amundsen 2017 maps?

I downloaded this version in July (ECE2017 P157)

I didn't understand at this moment,  why it was ECE2017 and not ECE2016-2017.

Do you mean the new bypass near Clapham? I am disappointed that this is not on the latest maps, not that I don't know where it is, but the unit cannot take this new road into account when calculating the various route options and so does not always come up with the most efficient route. I have Waze on my phone and that has all new roads virtually as soon as they are open, in fact, it even picked up the route as it was being built with a ghosted, dotted road. As you say, it is the areas that we are not familiar with that the missing roads makes a difference.

Yep - not on the map yet.

How do I find out what MIB my Amundsen is please - Octavia vRS III 2016 on a 2015 plate?

What does the P157 bit refer to? Is it the map version? Don't want to download 20Gb+ to find its the map I already have - my Internet connection is slow! Thanks

works fine on my 2016 plate vrs

Great- works fine. Thanks a lot

Looked like it was ok on mine until I selected on of my saved Destinations, while the location of the destination was correct it says it's "unable to plan the route", this seems the case for most if not all my destinations.  I've gone back to the 2016/17 maps and all is ok now.

Puzzled...

One download is 12.6Gb, the update from Skoda is just 4.57Gb.

Now which one does what?

I don't want to screw up my Sat Nav.

MIB2 Amundsen

??? (I couldn't figure out the download link as I don't know the map version number)

MIB1/MIB2 Columbus

At the moment Skoda update portal still shows the 2016/2017 maps for MIB1/MIB2 Amundsen.

On the face of it, the MIB1 Columbus ones are the same version as released in June - P157

I've downloaded and will give them a go though to see if they are the same.

Just checked the update portal and my update is there...at 23gig! Before I DL it I was wondering if anyone has found the UI any different than before, or is it literally just the updated roads?

I find the method for entering destinations really clunky (compared to Google maps) which i find myself tending to use on my phone (with a Brodit holder) rather than the whopping big in-built display just below it!

It is just the map data, it contains no software/firmware updates.

Don't know about the smaller download, but the 12.6GB file is the same version as the June 2016 release.

Not sure what Skoda are playing at!!
