No Medium Available Warning Message on Bolero Media Button Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just had my Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013) returned from the dealer, trying to fix a problem with the alarm, which was going off for no particular reason. I believe that this has now been fixed.

However, I have now discovered that the aux media input does not work anymore and am now getting an error message, when I press the Media button as follows:

No Medium Available

Does anyone know how this can be fixed please? I cannot find a way to fix it. I assume that I must go back to the dealer and get them to hook up the VCDS/ODIS to find out what's wrong? We are about to do a 1000 mile trip, so having the aux audio working would be desirable.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks!

I assume you had something playing that was plugged into the aux? It's just a jack plug transferring sound to the car speakers so it wouldn't detect a non playing item.

Hi adamal. Yes it was an ipod. The problem is that Bolero does not recognise the Aux anymore. When I press Media, "Aux" no longer comes up. It just says "No Medium Available". I haven't checked the CD player and SD card slots as I never use them. Since I bought the car two years ago, Aux has always shown up on Bolero when I press Media and I have always been able to play music through an Ipod into Aux through a 3.5mm jack cable. Now I get that error message, so I think that now Bolero does not recognise the existence of the aux plugin. From what I understand, Aux runs through the radio and then into the speakers.

You may have lost a setting so worth checking anyway.

Press the SETUP button on the radio and then select MEDIA on the display

Select ACTIVATE AUX INPUT to put a tick in the box.

Hi, pikpilot, thanks for that tip. I haven't tried that option. I thought all options would be in setup! :-)

Hi Pikpilot, sadly that did not work and when I pressed SEUP and then MEDIA in the display and also SET and then the MEDIA button itself, I got the message "No Medium Available" again. I am just loading an SDHC card with some mp3's and I will see if the system at least recognises that. Thanks for your help.

After opening the media page on the screen you should this:

Hi pikpilot, thanks a million for that....unfortunately the relevant boxes are missing for me, where I have shown. From further research, looks like it is a VCDS issue..

I found all of these points relating to the same problem I am having.....so it looks like I am off to the dealer. It's all a bit coincidental that it doesn't work after they sorted the alarm problem anyway.:-)

The head unit needs to be checked with VCDS. In the settings, there is a setting for "AUX not active" This needs to be left UNTICKED. Change the coding on the radio via VCDS, close controller, then switch the radio off and on again. Go into setup, select media, and make sure AUX input is selected.

==========

Try removing the radio fuse as I haven't found a way of hard rebooting a Bolero yet.

If it doesn't detect it on putting the fuse back in get a VCDS scan done. This should show any error codes to do with Radio, Media Player and Can gateway that may give a clue.

had a similar problem when coding another members Bolero for aux input.

We coded the setting in VCDS for the Aux but it still didn't work, however their was an adjacent tick box (In the long coding helper) which had a description which we couldn't work out (Can't remember what it was) but when ticked on the off chance the aux sprung to life. Wish I'd taken a screen shot now!

There is a VCDS setting (I honestly can't remember what it is) but it reads "backwards". I do recall it says something about unauthorised access to the aux port though. Looks like it should be ticked, but if you tick it, Aux stays greyed out not matter what you have in the Bolero menu.

But as MetBlackRat says, check in the Bolero setup menu, (I think its under media). With the box unticked the Aux button will be greyed out. (Unlike the BT Audio one that only appears when it's ticked)

==========

After months of it not working, I've just sorted out the AUX on Kim's Bolero. The option had been greyed out on the screen that comes up when media was pressed, and there was no option at all for AUX in the setup menu on the Bolero.

As above, it needed VCDS to select the RESTRICT AUX ACCESS option -- and as stated above it seems the total opposite to what you want -- restict access for the thing to work........

I found this out whilst installing and coding SimonTDI Sport's new CAN Gateway and Bolero -- noticed the settings and tried it on my own.

Never mind, that's how it is, and it certainly works!

Best of it is that I've just told Kim it's now working, to be told she only uses the SD card and hasn't ever plugged her MP3 player in to find out it never worked................

==========

Note that it is a tick box on the VCDS for Bolero coding (address 56) for AUX input. Unlike the two other options (parking sensors and CD changer) which have to be ticked to ACTIVATE, the option for AUX is ticked to DISABLE -- in other words the box needs to be left unticked for AUX to work.

As there is no reset on the Bolero, once the coding is done and the controller closed, simply switch the Bolero off and then back on to allow you to use the AUX.

Even without anything plugged into the AUX port, the AUX touch screen button still appears on the screen when activated in VCDS.

Hope this helps.

Anyway, the upside of all of this is that I discovered the SDHC card slot today, which I have never used! It's not bad at all and you can see all the tracks as well!

Thanks for your help!

Real longshot, but have you checked to see if the aux socket has become diconnected in some way? Not sure why, but assuming you have a jumbo box, they might have done something whilst checking and the cable's come loose or dropped off either on the rear of the unit or just under the connector in the arm rest: Adamal's partly right, but the socket in the jumbo box has a small pcb on the underside (mine does at least) so obviously it's doing more than just transferring signal like an extension cable.

Just an easy, minor thing to look at before the hassle of getting it scanned. Never know, might just be that the stereo isn't registering it cos it ain't connected? :)

blackspaven, thanks for that tip. Yes I do have a jumbo box. I will take a look, but I am going to the dealer tomorrow morning anyway, as coincidentally the front headlamp has also blown and I understand they are quite difficult to replace. Just as well all these things are happening before we drive back to UK in 10 days time! Thanks!

Hah, just a logical guess, dunno if that'd cause it to kick up any problems, but you're welcome. :)

Thanks to everyone who gave some advice. Got it fixed via VCDS. Took the guy 5 minutes to sort it.
