Missing equipment - what compensation?

Featured Replies

Each to their own, I know, but I would not be happy with a £85 refund and two services for missing High Beam Assist, Lane Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.

If I was intending on keeping the car for many years then I would be tempted to reject it. I think it would always be in the back of my mind that it doesn't quite have the kit you wanted it to have.

If it's a company car or just a hire purchase that's going after 3 years then I would be happy with the money back and a couple of free services.

Hi, Just thought I would update on this. The camera can't easily be fitted now  - whilst parts are available it may cause coding problems so the dealer has agreed to everything I asked for - 2 free services, cost of upgraded wheels refunded plus £50, full tank of fuel when minor marks on bumper are repaired.

And the chrome trim??

For me it wouldn´t be about the TSR feature itself, but the camera and the consequences following. I.e. not being able to code High Beam Assist and Lane Assist. Each to their own, but for me it would be a deal breaker.

To be fair, not that I got the car, and seen how bad those options are ... I wouldn't break a sweat getting a car without that crap. They are practically useless, waste of money.

SLA is an unreliable mess and makes high beam activation terribly slow, see: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/419725-very-slow-main-beam-switch-with-sla/

And lane assist ... maybe if you're driving on perfect roads and not switching lanes frequently, otherwise you'll disable that quickly ...

About the botched delivery: sum up the cost of missing options, aim to get the double of that value in return if you can't get the equivalent equipment. That simple.

Agree to disagree.

Agree to disagree.

I would have rejected my car if the SLA had not been added (mine works perfectly, OK the auto main beam can be a bit slow at times.... BUT that is NOT part of the SLA, that is a separate option which I did not spec, but instead activated myself with VCDS)

Have you actually looked at the videos? Flashing the main beam (in SLA headlights) is clearly slower. Does yours work differently?

Not really sure what you are getting at, as has previously been explained to you in the other post, SLA uses a totally different headlight and shutter system.

Most of my driving is done in the dark on country roads and apart from the HBA (not the SLA) not always going onto main beam as quick as if I was to do it manually it works really well, creating dark spots around oncoming traffic and those you are following, if at any point I want main beam on a little earlier then I can simply put it on myself, if that is not quick enough then you really are driving too quick for the conditions.

SLA does not include HBA as std, AIUI all 3 types of S3 headlights can have HBA enabled.

And the chrome trim??

Well remembered! - Sorry, forgot to mention that point. I decided not to pursue it, most of the mark I could see actually polished off leaving only a small mark on the inner edge. I tried to take a photo of it to send to the dealer but it was too little to really see in the photo, at that point I decided to leave it.

AFAIK HBA is a feature of the SLA option. My impression is that you can activate HBA, even if you don't buy the SLA option if you have the camera (you got at least the lane assist or traffic sign recognition). SLA is just an option package that has everything (HBA, LA and TSR). Not sure what option gets you the right hardware in the headlights ... if anyone understands it better, please explain.

Anyway, I got the car with SLA so that's the basis of my comments.
