Time max had the luck. Renault has not been good for him this year. hes nowhere in the points.

Excellent drive from Verstappen. Bad day at the office for Hamilton, but he still wins a fourth world title.

Mercedes constructors champions, Mercedes driver world champion.

Let us hope for a bit of a better scrap next year as it has been pretty dull since the re-introduction of the turbo era, but looking a bit more even since the summer break so may it continue thru 2018 but what will happen in 2019 is anyone's guess with the shake up in team personnel and engines for chassis.

At least with the road cars, thankfully, you get 4 years and 100k mile warranty as standard unlike some we could mention.

They had a little bit of an issue on some Indian made ones and then switch, a long time ago, back to the European or it might be the Moroccan production, and not had issues since then that I am aware of.   Nearly finished the 60K mile in the Logan and think what next.  Torn between a Sandero 0.9 TCE as a run around or a Clio RS, and as there is not a hot hatch Skoda any more, after the half dozen VRSs I have had, have to look elsewhere.    Havehad a Leon Cupra, might give one a go, and if the right deal who knows.

The engine in a road cars and an F1 car are chalk and cheese. What do Renault offer on an F1 engine, 4 minutes or 10 miles?

Max did OK, clearer still lots to learn now that they have got the power and performance up to and beyond the Ferrari and Merc, at least with Max at the wheel.

With 23% less air to cool the engine in Mexico, and producing all that new power, there clearly is work to do on the cooling at high altitude, be nice if RB would share some of its techniques as Max's pressures and temperatures stayed within parameters and he could even back off and beat Bottas and Kimi in to a cocked hat at not even full effort.

I liked F1 when most teams were running Ford DFV engines, then it was how good the chassis and the drivers were. When Renault entered the sport in the late 70's with the Turbo the sport lost a lot off it's appeal. The 'big boys' like BMW and Honda piled in with their turbo's and costs went and slowly the 'manufactures' took over the sport. Now it's more of a business than a spectacle.

That's not quite true. The original Renault turbos were horrendously unreliable and the motoring press at the time were convinced they could never be made to work reliably. That said, the "1500bhp from 1.5 litres turbo era" was scarily exciting and the drivers had some seriously sized cajonas.

I also agree about the DFV v Ferrari era.

As you said earlier, he only had the B-drivers to beat. He's an established star now and only Vettel and Lewis are genuine competition for him. For once he had all the luck, too.

Kvyat for Williams ?

Do they think he's better than Wehrlein?

At no point did Paddy Lowe specifically mention Kvyat is being considered.

And Wehrlein is only getting a look-in because Mercedes can afford to buy the seat. I think he's been less convincing this year than last.  He should had absolutely battered, the very weak, Ericsson every weekend this year. In retrospect (I didn't agree at the time) Force India chose wisely when they took Ocon instead.

Two retirements in as many years, who else can boast that? I'm sure there are others.

Prost.  2 in 3 years...Although he was actually fired rather than retired by Ferrari.

Mansell retired repeatedly until he got too fat to fit in the 95 McLaren.

Three Renault engine cars with grid penalties for changing MGU-H units and one of those then expired during Friday practice. How many Renault engines will self destruct over the rest of the weekend?

Kubica to get another Williams test at Abu Dhabi according to Autosport- must be almost a done deal now.
