New Octavia RS 230 connectivity

Featured Replies

Hey all

Just bought a new Octavia RS 230,amazing so far, but very thirsty.... Seriously

However I didn't get an option that I should have and that was the WiFi connection option.

Without this it seems there is no way to connect with any Skoda apps or to download my data.

What I would like to know is can I retrospectivly get the WiFi installed or is there another way to get my data.

Thanks

Colm

As far as I know, it only came as standard with the last few models built. I have it on mine, but it's basically just the same as using your phone as a wifi hotspot, not much use really.

Yes, it's just a hotshot as you say, however I would like to get my driving data or use the apps. Seems this can't be done without it.

Mine has it too..........

Bit of a useless extra really

So you're referring to the SmartGate aren't you?

You want to use your smartphone Skoda apps?

Yes... Or Skoda Connect... Basically none of my Android phones support Smartlink either.

Skodadop sell retrofit smartgate modules. Fits under the passenger seat afaik.

I'm not sure of the price to buy the smartgate module but you will get the same functionality (monitoring your diriving data) from a Bluetooth OBD dongle & smartphone apps like Torque or similar.

These are probably a lot cheaper & plug-and-play into your diagnostic port so don't require any installing.
