lane assist function

Featured Replies

I have just bought a new Octavia with "lane assist function."

When I drive at the highway and use the function, holding my hands easy at the steering wheel, I get the message for each 300 meters " you have to take over". If I don´t turn the steering wheel a little, I hear a beep in an few seconds, and the lane assist function switches off. Skoda tell me, that my car is ok ?

Owners of Tesla and ford tells me, that they can drive several kilometers without touching their steering wheel ?

That's exactly what mine does.

That is it working correctly.

its a lane assist not an auto-pilot like Tesla's system.

It assists it doesnt take over!

Thanks for your quick explanation

Yes this is the correct working, the limit is 12 seconds I think.

You can fool it with a bottle of water  jammed in the bottom portion of the steering wheel (needs to be over 500ml) to prevent the "take over steering warning". Highly recommend that you do not do this though because of the safety implications, but it is possible...
