  • The reality is, whether its 180 200 or 220, I run out of driving talent (and balls ) before I need to use anywhere near all of the horses! I know my limits

  • I'm pretty sure my 1.2 110 pumps out 220......lol How much power do you need on our congested, speed camera covered roads?

................or you have a cloaking device as used by the Kilngons. Beats a re-map

By the look of the standard spec I guess this'll be it's own model rather than the PP upgrade on the Golf.

Wonder if it'll be a limited run like the 230?

Looks nice, but I'll stick to my 230 and get a remap I think ... at least I know the 6 speed DSG can take it.

Bold move keeping the 6 speed DSG on the "standard" VRS and putting the 7 speed in the 245 ... did I say bold? I meant odd.

It's not the same as the "normal" 7 speed DSG which is designed for up to 250nm of torque - http://en.volkswagen.com/en/innovation-and-technology/technical-glossary/7-gang-dsg-getriebe.html - the new evolution is good for up to 600nm according to that article

In that case I'm not jealous at all :tongueout:

As a famous Scottish Dragon would say

"I've heard enough, I'm in"

It is the appropriate 7 speed that is going in, one that can deal with much more Nm than the 245ps Engine will be producing..

Same as S3 2017 FACELIFT and Golf R MK7.5 2017 FACELIFT. I guess, with maybe subtle tweaks

Looks very nice - although a quick stage 1 remap and a milltek exhaust would be a much cheaper upgrade for my 220 DSG!!

Still need the tricky diff to transfer that power

I'm pretty sure mine kicks out more than 245 now anyway.

When the Revo stage 1's get a little bit cheaper, I'll invest.

I read this a lot on the forum, and it sounds as though units can pump out a little more power than stated. However if that's the case, a stated 245 hp would probably pump out more than this, so it's all relative.

Agreed but a Revo map would take it to 300-310 (officially, 320/330 possibly) and with the diff on the 230 it's then in Golf R territory. (without the 4 wheel drive obv)

I heard reports that the 230 pumps out about 250/260 bhp.

Wouldn't it be fun if the 245 only pumped out 245 or even 240. A 230 would be 245 killer.

If you look at the times to 0-62mph the 245 is only 0.1 second quicker than the 230

Yes, that's true and where the diff would make a bit of difference. I don't think I'd fancy 300hp going through the front wheels of my 220.

It wouldn't, it would be going through my 230/250 :)

That surprised me. Maybe the 0-62 figures are VAG Conservative..

Bit of 230 owner bias going on methinks. If the interior quality is improved i.e. the b pillar rattles removed and 245 horses put down on the road properly it will be worth buying. As for a 230 pushing out additional Bhp then all the other 2.0 TSI engines must do, so it's all relative and probably only safely noticeable off the public roads.

Well if you can call yours that I'm claiming mine as a 240

I obviusly don't want to be the first to make the leap, I'll let someone else first :D

I've never driven a 220 for a long enough period to comment but yeah why not

Mine now feels a lot quicker than my old 215bhp Scirocco.
