Greenlight don't insure Fabias anymore

Recommended Posts

Ringing around to get my fabia vrs insured and thought I'd give GreenLight a go as they specialise in modified cars and people on here have used them before.

I got as far as mentioning that its a skoda fabia and the guy said quote "we don't insure skoda fabias anymore as we've had too many large claims" - I was quite suprised and a little amused.

So come on who was it:rofl:

Any tips on who else to try. I've done Adrian Flux, Chris Knott, Admiral, Tesco, Pretige, Alan&Alan, the AA (and Greenlight:rolleyes: )

strangely, i've just done exactly the same. wanted a price to renew my superb, but asked for them to quote with a jabba remap. they've had loads of fast skoda claims, and don't cover them any more.

got a good deal from chris knott (briskoda sponsors) that was about the same price as the greenlight quote though, might be worth a go.

anyone know any *really* cheap but good, mod-friendly insurers? not adrian flux, they're cvnts...

I tried Admiral online and selected chip 11-25% and suspension 'Other' for the strut brace and it wouldn't give me a quote, had to ring a number. Rang the number and they said Admiral wouldn't qoute it but transferred me to a company call Call Connections which basically transfer you to other insurers - Adrian Flux was one and they are the only ones so far to give a decent quote.

thanks for the advice - I'll keep trying.

I've just had a quote from More Than who insure the Mrs' Laguna at a very good premium.

They now want TWICE the premium they wanted from me 8 months ago - identical standard Fab vRS, identical drivers, still full NCD, no additional claims or convictions etc. etc.

This doesn't bode well at all!

(Premium's gone from £340 to £680, btw).

Yep - group 8 means nothing now, insurers are cottoning onto the fact that just because it only has 130 bhp doesn't mean its not quite quick... All TDis seem to be getting hit by higher premiums this year. Its cheaper to insure my remapped 20VT running 217bhp than my currently standard Fabia VRS - something not right there...

Roll on April for me then - NOT!:rolleyes:

I'll certainly give Chris Knott a try, hopefully they can come up with the goods, as this will be the first year I'll start with having to pick the 'Modified' option, instead of adding things throughout the year :D

Without remap and some other recent additions to my declared but currently not fitted mods, Zurich upped my premium by 300 quid (!!) before telling them that they were having a laugh. Then it was dropped straight back to what it was before.

Wouldn't insure me with a remap as they just don't do them so it seems, so it's being switched to NU. I really wanted to stay with my current insurance brokers as they are very friendly, local and have served me well over time, which will have restricted my options a fair bit, but I know I can trust them to help out if needed.

It wouldnt surprise me if there were a lot of modified but undeclared and therefore uninsured people out there, driving cars like this.

Sorry. Old thread again. I'm off work with time on my hands.

Shorty,

I got this rubbish off Greenlight when I tried to insure my Octavia 'Too many claims etc'

In fact I suspect that they just want high risk clients. When I told them my age, NCD and postcode I got the impression they weren't interested.

Another reason for saying this is that when I tried them last year their excuse was that I didn't have enough mods.

Someone mentioned LV. Don't even think about it, as we already know.

Adrian Flux, I wouldn't touch them with yours.

Chris Knott get the  in my book.

As of Yesterday Chris Knott now have both our Octys. Excellent service & prices, both policies tailored to the needs for each car, the L&K does 2-3 trips to europe each year so a policy with free green cards as required was offered.

The 4x4 is highly modded , 350 bhp etc but all mods covered & for a very reosnable figure.

Also their recovery package is very good value

All fully comp policy's include this, its an EU requirment.

Correct to a degree, when you travel onto the continent without a green card on a fully comp UK policy, with most policies your cover is reduced to the lowest required in the country you are travelling in. With a green card or policy that includes full euro coverage you get the same cover as here. Chris Knotts policy includes full euro insurance, and you dont need to notify them when you take the car out of the UK unlike esure for example, who charged you a
