  • Hello   I think this is the best design to be strong it has to be a left and right. you can use the original hinge (the tiangular shaped) you just have to cut the side plastic. hinge.stl

  • hinge.stl I had to correct the hinge. because the tip was too loose

Does anybody know how to reattach the metal bar to each of the vent arms. My children managed to kick the vent and it fell apart.

I've tried a million times and it is the most frustrating part in the history of parts. Im generally patient but this thing has me beat

I've run into the same trouble these days and fix it myself, thanks to all contributors here (the local dealer didn't prove very useful on the matter).

As I've found particularly useful the pictures posted by moamer91 in this topic https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/460883-rear-air-vent-collapsed/ I want to contribute myself

with the following couple of images:

To remove the outlet grid part, as described by others, all you need is a plastic card. Insert it gently as shown on the picture, push a little in and move the card aside. The grid part will slightly pop out with a click and you can take the whole thing out.

To detach the cable connector you need to push the metal bud on it, with a small screwdriver (as mentioned by MartiniB), towards the brown and blue/white cables and then help further with your fingers. It's a tight link.

If there are parts fallen down in the vent pipe a vacuum cleaner may come handy.

I hope this will help someone.

Thank you all who posted here and in the aforementioned tread, who saved my day (and money). Wish you all the best!

Can confirm that this method using a credit card works and takes about 5 seconds to remove the vent unit.

One small part had fell down the vent tube and was missing somewhere along its length along the centre console.

I used a length of 240v electrical cable with a small amount of evo stick smeared around the last inch of cable.

Poking it down the tube and moving it around caused the lost part to stick to it and was then retrieved.

Hi all,

Can anyone help me take out the rear air vent at my O3? I saw that has 2 small things to be pushed down with a special tool (I used a screwdriver) but still not going out. What are next steps to be take out? Thank you!

Just following up on this after replacing mine with a unit from aliexpress. Can't fault the unit that arrived, even had the skoda logo in the plastic body. I did however have the same issue with the led not working and looked to strip down the new unit and swap over as per the OP above, but I noticed the positive/ negative wires were crossed on the new unit (albeit red/black v brown/blue) so simply swapped over the connections in the plug and tada, the scroll lit up perfect. 😁

I'm refloating the hose because my little daughter kicked the grate and broke it just like what happened to you. I also need the piece you made but I don't have a 3D printer, how could I do it??
I'm waiting to get an extension for the vacuum cleaner, I hope the Karcher WD3 can rescue the piece from the bottom of the tube.

Thanks!

Hello surely  there is some house/stire near you that can print it for you try googling one with you location, just give them the stl file.

You can buy a complete new air vent from Aliexpress.com for less than £30.

I bought a Superb wagon that was missing one of the rear vent operators (great car, I love it!).

This thread encouraged me to try to fix it (thanks everyone). So I thought I would post here for others that will follow with the same problem (although that complete unit on Ali in the above post looks pretty good).
These Mercedes Benz tabs on Ali worked well. The rear vent tab fitted very well (the claw at the back was a better fit than the longer claws on the front vent tabs). I think the rear right and rear left are identical....

image.png

I pull the vent out using a credit card like others here have done, takes 10 seconds (maybe a bit longer the first time). Then I split the body apart (that way you don't have to undo the cable - though I did in the photo below .... it stays with the inner part that you can leave in the car).

image.png

I found the rear tab in the above set (you buy them separately) is just a little tight on the vent louvres, so I give it a little bit of a scrape on the inside with a knife so that it can move freely (but don't scrape too much, in case it gets too loose and rattles):

image.png

Put it all together.

You will have to work out how to orient them to get the full movement left-right and up-down.

image.png

They look different to the original

The one on the left below is the new one from Ali, the one on the right the original

image.png

So you need two of them (they are identical) and replace both, which I have done now (but didn't take a photo).

The rear vent tab does not come with the metal spring that goes inside, but the front ones do. I initially bought both so that I could fit the rear vent tab and instal a spring with it, but I find with these tabs, the spring doesn't do much. If you just need the spring to fix your OEM tab, you could try one of the front vent tabs for the replacement spring that comes with it, they fit well and look almost identical.

The photo below compares the OEM spring with the one that came with the front vent tab on Ali.

image.png

This is it in position, before installing the vent tab (pretty good fit!):

image.png

The ad on Ali shows the spring when you scroll through the options for the front tabs:

Good luck.
