** Monday Update **

New drive shafts fitted and the grating noise is still there. Picking up the car tomorrow to drive for a week and next Wednesday (no garage space until then) the car is back in the menders for more investigations. The Master Theccie has been allocated Wed/Thurs/Fri (next Week) to remove the e-diff, inspect and if nesseccery replace. If that don't fix it the Gear box is coming out, Inspection and Possible replacement if any thing is found.

**  Further updates to follow **

Thanks Ben, the master tech and the service manager have both heard the grating sound so thats good.

I think there hands are tied to be honest, they can only fit parts/carry our work/labour charges if Skoda UK say so other wise they won't get paid for the warranty/labour/work etc etc

They can spend what they want/throw parts at the car as long as there paying for it

I wish you well AG. What a palarva!

Keep me Informed please, might have the same problem as mine.  Can you tell me please when you got your 230. Build week/first reg date etc

Thanks

Sure... Will find build date when I'm home (currently in Italy for two weeks) but think it was Nov 2015 from memory, I bought it Nov 2016 with 8k miles.

**  Tuesday update  **

Just picked the 230 up, new complete drive shafts both sides, still the slight grating sound. So back in next Tuesday for e-diff out and inspected. if all seems ok with that it's the gear box out.

AND.........Mr Goldfinger is not a happy bunny and I've had very strong words, they have managed to kurb my off side rear Extreme Alloy    :wall:

Don't worry, we'll sort it  F**king damn right you will...........

Uber rant over.......

Is the Master Tech not hearing the Slight Grating Noise on the road test after the work is done and saying need to keep this until it is 'Fit For Purpose'

or i can get a Skoda Senior Technician along to check my work over?

It is a comedy of errors,

What Dealership is the car at so that others might know to take their car elsewhere?

Do you have the Dealer Principal 'Demonstrator' as a courtesy car while yours is in the workshop or something equally as nice?

230 vRS standard or better!

The car is fit to drive but theres no Garage time untill next week. Parts are on order and they have it booked in for 3 full days to carry out more tests/work.  I'd rather have it sat on my drive than in the menders car park stood idle for a week, getting covered in Bird Sh1te and alike

Must just be me, i would have it parked up near the front of the dealership with big signs in it saying,

Nearly New Octavia 230 vRS,

Faulty and spending more time here than on the road while the workshop tries to fix it with trial and error.

Yep I agree George but my hands are tied as are the dealers. Skoda won't pay for any unauthorised warranty work so they have to follow Skoda protocol and instructions of what to do. I think the dealers are frustrated that they can't just fix it.........

With lots of luck they will get a 245 for you ASAP.

 **  Todays update  **

Guess what, still bust, In all 2 sets of drive shafts, CV joints, Wheel bearings, Gear box out, manual and e-diff out, manual diff replaced, all put back together and the grating sound is still there, e-diff and steering rack on order and to be replaced.

Getting a bit fed up to be honest...........Rejection in sight if the 2 new parts can't fix the problem. The young lady at Skoda CC who is dealing with my car doesn't really know what a gearbox or drive shaft is, doesn't hold much hope does it...........:worried:    :shake:

Looks like I'll be driving a Jag XF next, a fast one...........

That is all for now

Wow, I would have long since rejected it !!

I think you have given them plenty of opportunities to fix it.

Time to reject.

AG, walk away & start again!

But please do yourself a favour...the Jag will bring it's own issues, judging by four family members current experiences with separate JLR vehicles, as well as several friends problems with theirs :whew:

Much as I love the looks of the XF, F-Pace, F-Type etc., a new Volvo XC60/90 or V90 would be my preference to XF if I was looking for that type of car, ideally in T8 hybrid spec.  (I don't ask for much :D )

Not been following this too much but reading between the lines, it looks like you need to reject and walk away IMO.

Walk away, if you can afford the XF R-Sport with the 250 or 300ps engine, you won't be dissapointed!

Test drove one a 4wd one, absolutley lovely and miles ahead of the Octy.

Any new update AG?

Yep, todays update.

E-diff and steering rack on order, arriving from the factory by the end of the week. I know things are dragging on but my local dealer has been excellent to be honest. Skoda wont pay for any warranty work not approved by Skoda, they are fustrated as I am, they wanted mended as much as me.

Anyway, my new number plate arrived today and will get it fitted ASAP. Hope the plate does the car justice

The new plate is  "  BE57 VRS "  Lets hope it is the best.........

Sounds like SH17 VRS to me.
