Purpose of the mirror in the bixenon headlight

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

What is the point of the mirror inside of the headlight?

My assumption is that the mirror is used when the headlights swivel in the corners but how is this supposed to work?

Is light from the loupes reflecting in the glass of the headlight to the mirror and light goes in the sides of the car or what?

Am I wrong?

I don't think it serves any purpose apart from filling up the void.

The dynamic cornering function is done by rotating the xenons projectors, not by using mirrors etc.

The static cornering tends to be done using the fog lamps.

I think ist just Skodas solution to hide the small side bulb which lights up the eyelashes.

IMO not as good looking solution as the new Superb.

Using logic only whilst looking at the picture............I would say it is designed to reflect (some stray) light sideways for improved visibility of your vehicle to other road users, from the side.

I have Bi-Xenon's on the A4, which I managed to repair a fault on the high beam solenoid actuator circuitry, saving myself about a grand.

I thought the same, but I need proof ;)

Seen them on a car further down the street. A Vrs in the vivid green colour............I really like this colour.....suits the car well.

In the picture it looked to me that the mirror bit is curved inward. Not so, but I still think my assumption is partly correct.

But of course, I would....Lol.

It is only a design element. They wanted big headlights, but cheap solution with only one lens. They had to fill the headlight with something!?

it looks just right for me

Today I saw the 'answer' of your question :)

If DRL are not LED, still you can have DRL as regular bulb and Xenon for the rest.

IMHO this mirror looks stylish when I see it in my LED+Xenon front face. Makes the car somehow 'angry' and determined to drive.

I know there are 3 options when choosing headlights:

1.standard halogen lights with standard bulb DRL

2.Xenon lights with standard bulb DRL

3.Xenon lights with LED strip(line) DRL + that mirror I am talking about :)

so I found the answer today :)

The mirror is decorative only as you can see at point 5.
