HELP !!!! - Which Oil ?????

Featured Replies

I have recently bought a 2008 1.9 Diesel Octavia Elegance Estate and I'm trying to work out which oil to use & whether to go for fixed or flexible servicing.

The car has covered 70k miles and appears to have been serviced every year at approx. 7k mile intervals.

It's a PD engine without a DPF and QG1 (Flexible Service Interval) is on the data plate.

I will be covering around 12k miles per year (2k to 3k towing a caravan).

I read loads of articles about oil and settled on 506 01, but I've now read some more and got even more confused.

507 00 seems to now cover all models?

Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Based on that mileage I would stick with fixed servicing, once a year with the mot. Flexible servicing would go to 2 or more years and you will need the mot anyway? 3K towing a caravan is also hard work for the motor and needs more frequent oil changes anyway.

I would use 507, Quantum Longlife 3 is what the dealers sell, plenty on EBay for around £20 for 5ltrs, it is designed for variable longer services but I used it on a 12 month change.

Thanks Ken & T2000 for your helpful suggestions.

Annual service and 507 oil is what I'll go for
