I nearly sold my Fabia to a co-worker this week. I'm regretting buying it, to an extent. Perhaps should have gone for the Fiesta ST. It does everything well. Just nothing great. I've gone off the idea of getting the standard vRS wheels painted black, in favour of some 17"s. However, if I'm going to love this car, the ride height really needs to be sorted. As someone said in a therad I was reading, the designer of the arches of the Fabia really does need a hard punch in the ****.

I have Eibach springs & dampers.

Springs I bought second hand for £70 & dampers were bought new for £280 at a show.

Fitted then myself & would recommend to anyone. Ride height is just right now & handling is vastly improved.

Had eibach pro-kit dampers & springs a while back. Since gone to Coilovers

Where to you but the kit? Springs from Scotland, dampers from Briskoda

What did you pay? £110 for springs new, £280 for dampers

Where did you get the kit fitted? Seller of dampers fitted springs to dampers, Jabbasport did the rest.

How much did it cost? 3 hours labour = £125ish.

They were very comfortable springs and soaked up most harshness UK roads had to offer. :) BUT, ultimately I wanted more drop so went over to adjustable coilovers. Super stiff and harsh on bumps, but great handling on smooth roads & superb poise sat 60mm+ lower than standard. :cool:

I have the eibach spring and dampers fitted, they change the car alot!

As for the ST/VRS thing, they are different tools for different jobs. I bought the fabia as a quickish tourer, not as a hot hatch. My main requirement was a motorway cruiser that is nippy.

Xav is running with them on his "unmodded" vRS. No idea which setting the dampers were on' date=' but handling and comfort were on a par with the Eibach pro-kit springs and dampers :D

Okay. So I'm looking, roughly, at £500-£550 all in for it all to be fitted? Hmm.

Coilovers: I'm guessing here, but they'll weigh in, fitted, for £800? That sound about right? Is the premium over the spring/dampner combo really worth it? Is a 60mm drop a bad idea. I've searched a few threads and there's been mentions of sumps hitting things. Which, to my non-technical mind, is a bad thing. I'd also want to go down the 17" wheel route. To avoid any arch hassle, is the 30mm drop with just the springs a better option?

If I did get the Coilvers, I'd run the standard wheels for longer, due to £££ reasons. A 60mm drop on 16"s...how long before I put a hole in the sump?

Seriously. I won't be able to sleep at night if it means I can only drive on perfect tarmac.

If you have a quick peek in the gallery section walkie has some fine pic's of his car in his area. He has octy vrs wheels on and the eibach springs there are two pic's, before and after shots gives you some idea of the difference my cars the same but i have the eibach dampers too. If i can be arsed i post the pic's up for you or find the thread.

really? Better get myself a new set on order. Mine are about 20k old now I think.

This is how they look side on with coilovers (compared to oem below it). I've gone over those lumpy stand alone speed bumps, and not hit anything underneath yet. Although having looked, the centre section of the subframe sits lower than my sump, so the first time I knock anything under there, its more likely to be that, than the sump.

As already said.. the best "non coilover" combination seems to be the eibach RS springs with koni adjustable dampers..

Awesome are selling the koni kit for about 300 notes.. which is good VFM even if its only for the dampers...

i would buy the above kit... plus the eibach springs (koni kit springs aint compat with the RS) flog the koni springs to a ibiza tdi owner... should get about

I've got a horrid feeling that if I go to Jabba and get tehe suspension fitted, I'll end up buying an awful lot of other stuff, too! Eek! :D
