DSG or brakes?

Featured Replies

I'd like your advice please!

I have a 2013 Fabia mk2 TSi DSG. We were stuck in stationary traffic for a few minutes, so I put it in Park, put the handbrake on, and turned it off.

Turned it on... Put it in Drive, took the handbrake off, pressed the accelerator down... and went nowhere!

The car was rooted to the spot. It strained as if it wanted to move, but it wouldn't budge. Dashboard said the gearbox was in "D" as you'd expect, and the handbrake went down as usual.

So I turned it off. Turned it on again. Repeated the process. No dice. So I tried putting it in neutral and lifting off the brakes to push it to the side of the road. It was stuck solid. Wouldn't budge an inch.

So I called the AA, this time I tried again, and it moved as usual. Amber engine warning light on.

It's currently with the dealership. It passed their test drive, but apparently the ECU logged multiple events.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is likely to be? As you'd expect, it's just gone out of warranty

DSG & there is how to unlock the DSG in that situation in the owners manual.   sorry on phone and travelling so cant help more.

Out of warranty does not matter, has the car had service campaign 34F7 done or should it have been done.

preventative to help be sure the car did not suffer loss of drive and danger to life, that is what you had, so be sure to go down that line with Skoda UK.

Thanks Awayoffski! I was wondering about the DSG service campaign, particularly in light of it happening in stop start traffic - my driving pattern pretty much consists of motorways interspersed with heavy stop-start traffic. According to my previous dealership the service campaign was carried out, but let's just say that there are reasons they're my previous dealership and not my current one ;)

Part of the dealership issue was that when my Fabia was a year old to about two, it had a number of fails in traffic - that was definitely engine/fuel related though, it would splutter and die in traffic; and fail to restart. Got a couple of trips on the yellow low loader of shame. The first dealership didn't seem able to fix the problem; after several tries they'd replaced the high pressure pump, fuel pump and a wide variety of other bits and pieces. My current dealership drained the fuel system and replaced the fuel filter - oddly that fixed it first time ;)

Unfortunately the manual is with the car, and they're both still at the dealership; but I'll have a read if/when I get the car back!

Thanks again for the suggestion!

I've had it since new, yes. As I said, the previous dealership said they'd done the service campaign, but in my experience all dealerships have an occasional habit of claiming they've done things when they haven't - at least based on the number I've caught out ;)

It's currently at the dealership. Unfortunately I can't check for anything, as it's locked in a garage compound 10 miles away!

If you put the VIN from the V5 into that checker their should be nothing outstanding but then any 'cheeky monkey' that has charged Skoda for service campaign work would be putting into the system as done.

(nobody would ever just falsely claim they did, well not much.....)
