Thule for me...

 

Another vote for roofbox.co.uk and Atera bars.

 

I've had 4 sets of Atera's for Jeep, Passat and 2x Octavia, both for estate and hatch. Excellent quality and fit.

I'm sure the Thule is lovely and all that, but over 5 times more expensive?

 

Thule is the Apple of the roof accessories world.

 

 

 

I've just had a look at that Cruz rack and for me whilst cheaper you can tell why.  Yes theThule is more money but it's easier and quicker to fit to the car.  

 

Also when putting a bike on the roof, with the Pro Ride you can lift the bike on to the roof and the arm that holds the bike has a C shaped cradle - the bike sits in that and can only fall back towards you whilst securing whereas the Cruz you have to stable the bike and lift the arm from below - potentially it could fall away from you.

 

I bought my Thule Atlantis roofbox in 2006 and 2 x Pro rides in 2008 (before they were officially cool )  and highly recommend them ... but agree not cheap.

I'm happy to do it with the Thule Pro Ride as it has a c shape hook as per my reply above so as the bike goes onto the roof the bottom part of the frame goes into the holder and can't fall away from you.

 

 I would be less happy doing it with the carriers that secure from below.

Nice Octavia but how did you get down the unpaved road ? Looks very low at the front or is that just the splitter ?
