Front Wheel Bearings this easy?

I've done a little bit of mechanics on my old vehicles but have never attempted a wheel bearing due to having to get the damn thing out if pressed in and not investing in a kit. The bearings on my skoda superb Mk2 sound like they may have gone and I found this vide which makes the whole process look painless. Can this be right or is that a whole kit rather than just replacing the bearing?

 

 

Yep all the new generation VAG have bolt in hub bearings,

Still not an easy job without a ramp but no bearing press required..

 

Amateur spanner monkey should be done inside an hour..

 

If you have alloy hubs dont use copper slip to rebuild as copper and alloy corode like no tomorrow..

It's hardly worth it , a garage will charge you about £50 to change one , they will put it in with a press and not damage the bearing

Your not even paying attention @peterposh these bearings are allready pressed from the factory..

 

Its a simple spanner job..

They are all "simple spanner jobs" until reality strikes

Should be able to block people on here like u can on fb...

Only thing that would give me concern is the 4 bolts holding the hub on with the torque drive heads 

make sure they are cleaned out 1st before you try and loosen because if you chew them up yer gonna have trouble 

also as said use copper slip when you put the new hub back in 

I did both fronts a few weeks back.

 

like snapper1725 said, be careful with the bolts.

 

One side came off very easily yet the other side 2 bolts chewed up and I had to get a second hand knuckle and spend the extra time removing that as well.

 

I used a blow torch on the second hand knuckle to make it easier to remove the bearing which helped.

I'm sure he has no desire to block you. he was simply helping you by showing you how you had used the wrong "your / you're" you meant 'you're' but used 'your'.

Pointless unesicerily bulking up a thread which subject matter is not regarding grammer nor spelling..........

You can.  Click on your user name at the top right of the page, choose 'Ignored Users' from the drop-down menu, add whoever you like by typing their username into the white box under "Add new user to ignore list".  Job done.

Why not use on aluminium??

thats one of the biggest problems alloy against metal

only the other week I struggled to get my rear wheels off because off it corroding. 1st time I've taken them off, wheels and hub cleaned up and refitted using copper slip ( it won't happen again)

Always used copper slip on alloy, used to be a HGV Fitter and wasted many hours trying to get alloy wheels off that hadn't had copper slip put on

I use copper slip all the time I love the stuff ,however I never use it alluminium surfaces.Copper reacts with aluminium its something I was taught early on in my coach building appreniceship...

 

I have found freeing siezed alloy calipers and alloy bells for brake discs a large amount of baked copper slip........

I see, didn't know that 

but from starting ( god that was along time ago) my apprenticeship I was told to use it all the time. 

Possibly not actually copper slip but what it's known as, I've never actually checked but like you use it all the time

As I said , it's hardly worth all the faffing about for 50 quid

The op was about how dificult the job is not how much will it cost....

Good afternoon could anyone tell me what size socket it is to remove the 12 pount bolt is please on the hub, i have a 2.0d 2013 skoda superb many thanks in advance
