Cruise control doesn't work since DSG oil change

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

Please help.

80k DSG gearbox oil change done by Skoda service and since that moment I lost completely the cruise control function. I took the car back day after when I realised but said will be £102 to diagnose the fault etc, no thanks. I'm sure they caused the malfunction somehow but they will never admit it.

Anyway, I'm here to ask the masters what can I do by myself to bring back to life the cruise control.

Maybe a plug unplugged somewhere during the oil change?

Thanks in advance!

Check it's not switched off on the stalk.

Surely a firm discussion with the service manager would result in them at least doing a scan to see where the issue is (free of charge). Something along the lines of "it was working on the day I brought it in and the day after it is not working, so the least you can do is perform a scan for me to rule out something your mechanics have done". Mention of taking it up with Skoda UK may help too.

Good luck.

Good luck.

They didn't want to help, offered me a booked place in 2 weeks time only and of course the £102 check fee. Btw I had to go back twice, once they forgot the code reader in the car's socket and secondly, forgot to mark and stamp the service book. Laughable! I do not trust them.

Anyway, I plugged my laptop to my car and giving an error code 001384 Cruise control switch (e45), implausible signal.

Any idea?

Have you cleared all the fault codes?

Press the Application button on VCDS main menu then hit erase all dtcs and retry the cruise.

If that doesn't work you might need to try a new (second-hand) switch.

In ERWIN there is no reference to the cruise control in the gear box / DSG chapter at all and in electrics the only faults relate to the steering column switch.

Could this not just be an unrelated chance fault not connected to the gear box service?

I had this on wife's Fabia TSi. I split the stalk in half and cleaned the PCB. It had collected dust in the grease they use to lube the contact. It created a short between the two pads and so got it all confused.

After cleaning it up with IPA and a cloth, I cleared the error and went for a drive.

That was last summer and still working great.
