Fabia 1.4MPi Whats the plug/bolt at front of timing chain cover

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have just replaced the timing chain on my 2000 X Fabia 1.4MPi 8 valve ohv and on starting it oil is pi$$ing out of a 22mm bolt at the bottom of the timing cover at the same height as the oil pump gears and pointing towards the front of the car.  This bolt has a tight fitting soft (?aluminium) washer and I removed it in error thinking it was holding the timing cover on and put it back but the washer is bent out of shape and I think it is this that is supposed to make a seal against the oil pressure being created by the pump.  Does anyone know what this bolt is for and can I get a replacement aluminium washer - I don't think its an ordinary steel washer.  Alternatively is there any other way of sealing this as the leak's that bad the engine would have drained of oil within about a minute had I not turned it off.  Many thanks

I think it will be item 43 and 44 on here....

It's just a 16X22 aluminium washer which you could probably find on ebay.
