Starting issues since camshaft sensor changed

Featured Replies

2010 octavia won't start cleanly after camshaft sensor was replaced.

The camshaft sensor was replaced after a permanent fault code and since then it won't start cleanly. It turns over for at least a couple of seconds before starting when it always started clean before every time. It runs and ticks over fine but won't start straight away and does it every time. The timing belt was replaced a year and a half ago and wasn't touched when the camshaft sensor was replaced.

The code has now changed to 'camshaft sensor reading unfeasible' rather than 'undetected'. This is the only code showing.

I'd appreciate and thoughts on

what could have caused this starting problem.

Thank you.

Hello mate.

I recently had my camshaft sensor replaced. Before, it always started fine cold, then struggled for 2 seconds or so when hot. After replacement it was 2 seconds or so every time.

Turns out the aftermarket sensor was giving an inverse magnetic reading.

After swapping out for a genuine VW sensor whilst trying to fix my issue, starts straight away every time. Just a thought.
