Gday all.

First time post on Briskoda.

Am currently a MK5 VW GTI driver and am looking to trade in my car for a 2015 MY15.5 Octavia RS, love the looks and the ROOOOOOOOM. However, having had come from the world of the FSI and its associated issues with carbon build up, I am worried about this issue. I am intending to keep the Octavia for the long haul, what I am confused with is the following.

The MK7 GTI EA888 gen 3 engine has both MPI and DI (except in the United States, am in Australia so not an issue), the beauty of this dual injection system is that carbon build up will be extremely minimal to non existant, as the MPI system will wash the associated carbon off the inlet ports, everywhere I have read is that the Octavia RS is using the same engine. HOWEVER, In my research and on the technical specifications pdf on the RS, it only states DI, no mention of MPI.

Could someone please clarify what the case is with the Fuel injection system on the 2015 my15.5 Octavia RS, is it only Direct Injection. Or does it have both Multi Point and Direct Injection like the GTI

Regards

Phill

insertion of MPI system

It is like the gti.

The RS has both.

Same spec as mk7 gti, power, everything.

It has both, plus variable valve timing and valve lift override. For some reason there are 8 solenoids on the Exhaust side for overriding the variable timing system as required.

If anyone knows any more about this system that would be great :-)

The EA888 Gen 3 of the 1.8 and 2.0 Octavia vRS has MPI and DI.

As well as 2 exhaust cam lift, VVT on intake and exhaust, tumble flaps in the intake manifold, and many more high-end technologies ;)

adding info

I thought I read somewhere that the FL RS was back to DI only?

Maybe just the 245?

But I realise the OP was talking about a 2015 car, my understanding is additional injectors into the manifold as others have said.

Carmagazine is wrong, from OFFICIAL Skoda form, the Octavia 245 has Direct AND Port injection
