In a 2011 plate Yeti the advice given above is completely wrong. The Amundsen and Columbus V2 are not suitable for that model. You need either a Columbus, an Amundsen, or an Amundsen + unit dependant on your particular requirements.

Thanks mate, I seem to remember also that I need to state what model number I have 310 or 5... something - would where I could fine that?

thanks

Amundsen is a RNS-310  (No DAB or BT support)

Amundsen+ is a RNS-315 (Some versions have DAB and/or BT)

Columbus is a RNS-510 (Some versions have DAB, none have BT support)

DAB support is normally denoted by a black connector on the rear of the unit.

BT support on the Amundsen+ (RNS-315) is normally proven by the mac address on a sticker, if it's not 00:00:00:00:00:00 it should have BT built in unless it's been messed with.

I assume you currently have a Bolero headunit? If you also have BT fitted, it's probably possible to have it work with the above headunits.

Many thanks Langers, I do indeed have the Bolero unit which actually works really well with my steering controls and BT so wouldnt want to loose that functionality - all Im looking for is to keep that and include GPS/nav but have it all within the headunit (as oppose to a tomtom)

thanks

As Langers says, fairly simple to upgrade and keep all the current functions you have. In a Yeti you'll also need a different shaped surround to accommodate the new unit, as the Bolero is a different shaped head unit to the Columbus / Amundsen pairs.

I doubt you currently have DAB radio, is that something you'd need or want?

I have a Columbus available (either a DAB or non DAB) and also happen to have the correct shape surround in the garage too. Some idea of prices are in the link in my sig.

Wouldnt know if its dab or not, I know it doesn't work without the aerial

Well, the Bolero didn't come with DAB so that's the long and short of it really. The question was more along the lines of "Would you want DAB on the new one?"

Not fussed about that radio reallly, as long as it works and I get Satnav with decent up to date maps, cameras and bluetooth working again

Well that makes it a good bit easier and cheaper then.

If you're interested in a Columbus, drop me a message.
