Media player and ECU

Featured Replies

urgent help please.

I am about to commit to buying a 2009 VRS petrol 98k, I am an owner of a VRS petrol anyway 186k so know whet to expect.

I test drove the car - all fine and signed on the dotted line.

Took it home and on the way the radio/media player stopped working, got the initial welcome screen from Columbus and after a few seconds - nowt. Kept doing that.

Next day going through the rev range and discovered reduced torque in 5th and 6th running up from 40-70mph. had to keep dropping to 4th to get any pull. It did not drive like this before that and it felt restricted by something. No warning lights.

I took it back and got my money back from the dealer but loved the car so I have the option to rebuy it and I have been told it had the following fault?

the fault was with the media player consul and a connected sensor/with the engine. They are replacing the consul and this will solve the problem. I am getting a 12 month warranty with this.

I am taking it for a test drive anyway next week before I commit to it.

I have searched for this related fault and found nothing relevant so turning to any of you guys to see it this makes sense. I am familiar with MAF sensor faults and you get the EM warning light in the past but this is not what is being specifically referred to. Its definitely not a bad engine as it pulled fine before, easily high speeds achieved.

many thanks for any help.

Jim

Sounds like 2 separate faults there. The Columbus fault would be a software glitch which might be sorted with a reload, but undoubtedly it'll be one of the older units with the poorer quality screen I guess.
