Android Auto bugs

Featured Replies

Hi,

Though being an experienced IT Engineer, I'm totally baffled with the Android Auto problems with my 2022 Octavia 1.4 TSI PHEV Combi. TBH, before this I had VW T-ROC and never had such problems with it.

Here's the list of my annoyances:

  1. Everytime I turn on the engine it asks for me to login to my phone screen. Never had to do this on Android Auto on a VW T-ROC. I mean, can't it not remember your device?

  2. Everytime I open Android Auto, although auto play of music is disabled, it automatically starts playing the music. I've checked Android auto, VLC player etc. No resolution. I've only tried it with VLC, is it the same with other media players?

  3. Forgets Tomtom AMI GO app and persistently loads Google Maps. This is annoying, especially when you are abroad and you don't want to roam your internet. As a solution you need to first open the TomTom app on your phone, then connect to Android Auto. Then it works, otherwise app isn't visible in AA.

  4. Everytime I connect my dashcam to the USB (I know, this isn't Android Auto related), the dashcam goes into mass storage mode.....Only solution I could find was to terminate the middle two connectors on the USB cable.

Any solutions would be appreciated :)

I'm not sure. Is it possible to update the firmware ourselves or is it only possible at the service ?

You can do it self.

Navigation Database: 21.2

I had the same problem with Spotify, and the only way to make it stop launching was to remove it from AA launcher list. Youtube music I use, or default Samsung music do not start up if I forbid them starting in AA settings.

Are you talking about USB on the rear view mirror? Cause all others are indeed for data transfer and dashcam should go into mass storage mode.

As for 1 and 3, I have 1941 too, but no such issues. It might be your phone related, not the car.

Re the auto playing of media / Spotify isn't there a setting in Android Auto itself - so on your device (not the car) go to Settings / Apps / Adndroid Auto / Additional Settings in the App ande de-select 'Start music automatically'

As I had stated, I had already deselected "Start music automatically" in the AA app on the phone (as well as in the car).

I've got a 2022 vrs & I never have the login request issue.

Can't comment on the auto play issue you have, I use YouTube music & I want my music to work that way.

Hello, I did say that I had already deselected that option.

Ok. Was just a suggestion as it worked for me
