New front Brake calipers. What make should I get?

Featured Replies

I've a superb estate elegance, 2012, 170 bhp, 2.0l diesel.

I need to replace at least one front brake caliper, maybe both, and would prefer a good make.

Does anyone know what make the OEM equipment is?

Or can anyone recommend a good alternative make?

I've seen TRW (about £70), Brembo (about £65) and Bosch (£62) but I don't know what is a good make for calipers.

OEM seem to be about £150 but I don't know who makes them.

Also I'm going to change the discs - again, any good makes I should go for?

Thanks in advance

Dont know about the calipers but i went for Brembo disks and pads when i changed mine. Kevin uses them and he hasn't as much trouble with his brakes as Grosjean has and he uses another brand. A little nerdy reason for me i guess hehe

OK Thanks,

I know I only waited 2hrs for replies but in the end I also went for Brembo for 2 x calipers as well as 2 x Discs (already have pads from Pagid).

I've got the dreaded 'front brakes binding' symptoms and I'm hoping its only the rather rusty NSF brake caliper that I saw and not the 'replaced calipers, pads, discs & master cylinder and still have the problem' type of issue that many Skoda owners seem to have !

Will be keen to see pictures and a review of the Brembos! Are they red?!?!??!?

Err... No, they are silver. Will having them painted red make my car stop quicker? ;)
