Fitting a wing mirror lense

I have ordered a new lense for my fabia mk1 vrs. The mirrors on the car now are electric and heated if that makes a difference. Please could someone give me a few pointers as to how I remove the old one and fit the new one? Thanks in advance

Apparently, you adjust the mirror so the mirror glass itself is pointing in towards the car as much it will go, and down as much as it will go. 

Then you have to pull carefully!
