Columbus problem or what?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone... I am new on this forum, but old Skoda fan.

I have bought a Skoda Superb Combi II. A few years ago, I have driven the same model.

Now I have a mysterious problem with Columbus:

The PHONE button doing just mute. Nothing else.

I have downloaded user manual, and I do not have some options. I don't have PHONE Settings, Phone display (name of connected phone, dial pad, number, etc...)

The only way to use a connected phone is over a Multi Dot screen or over the phone itself.

Beside that, I do not have an option to see the version of my device or software.

Does anyone know what is the problem?

On Skoda site, there is no any update for my device.

Sounds like something isn't coded correctly. Maybe someone added the Bluetooth or the Columbus as an aftermarket fitting and didn't code it to suit the rest of the fitment. VCDS will be needed to correct any coding errors.

It is not aftermarket device. It came with car from authority car dealer.

This is something I had once - it was just down to the fact the unit had not been on long enough.

Try holding down the settings button at the end of a run instead of just as you get uin the car

As to the other issues - my 2 Suberb II's are slightly different in functionality when it comes to the phone. Probably down to the year/facelift version etc. But can't be sure. Also the phone may not support all options

Maybe the car came with a Columbus or Bluetooth fitted originally. If someone has replaced either unit for a newer model and hasn't carried out the coding required to make them compatible with the car, it won't be working correctly. As it's not working correctly we can presume that there's some coding issue, or maybe some other issue. But in any event a scan with VCDS and clearing any error codes, then addressing any coding errors which remain will doubtless fix your problem.

Edit: The lack of any version information when trying to access the menu will be just as it should be. Only if enabled by someone with VCDS will the "Version Information" show up on an older unit. On newer units it's an option without any enabling.

Look under passenger's seat (in continental cars it's right seat so in UK this might be under driver's seat) and read the model number of your Bluetooth (something like 3C8035730A).
