Noise from engine bay at low idle.

Featured Replies

My vRS has developed a grinding noise/rattle at idle. Seems to be coming from the front right (drivers side) and only seems to be aparent when the engine is at operating temperature and idling (sitting just below 1000RPM). It gets slightly louder when you start to release the clutch, then stops entirely when the revs hit 1000RPM. It may be worth noting that the noise is present in and out of gear, with and without the clutch engaged. Have tried to take a video but every time I try to the noise mysteriously stops!

The noise definately seems to be related to engine speed. Possibly related, the engine is much more rough below 1000RPM so I'm thinking this could be related.

Could it be something along the lines of fuel/water pump, alternator or timing pulleys?
