After the lugs on one of the intercooler pipes packed in a couple of weeks ago on my vRS, I have decided to get a full hardpipe upgrade with an uprated intercooler. A few questions spring to mind though. I have looked on darksidedevelopments and found a 1.9tdi asz hardpipe kit to go with a seatsport fmic (front mounted intercooler), does this require any modifications to anything else, and am I correct in thinking this still sits under the bonnet and it's not an external mounted one on the bumper or something? Also, what bhp/nm increase can I expect from this intercooler.

 

In addition, if anyone has a better kit or can find just a hardpipe kit for use with the standard intercooler, please let me know. My budget is about £400 (without fitting).

Unless they've improved there quality over recent years the darkside kit is very hit and miss. 

 

Think a few have bought the cheap eBay ones and have had no problems with them.
