Cornering fog lights on Octavia lll Facelift

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new here on this forum. And please excuse for the occasionally not so perfect english.

I've just put 3000 km on my new Octavia lll Facelift from October 2017. However I regret not ordering the cornering fog lights. It seems to be a factory mounted extra equipment and an attempt to activate it by VCDS did not succeed. Does any of you forum users have succeeded in that operation?

I'm exactly the same as you. I rang my dealer and they said it can't be done!! I think they just couldn't be bothered. If anyone on here could help us I'd be very grateful.

Definitely possible on MY 16 cars as I did my,  then, 2.0TDi 16 plate, not sure about later cars though ordered my 67 plate model with cornering fogs enabled.

Definitely possible on MY18. My car was not specced with cornering fog lights, but these were enabled afterwards.

If you have the fog lights already fitted I'm sure with VCDS its possible to enable the cornering feature.

Do you look at the VCDS thread pinned at teh top of the forum?

Pretty much zero chance of getting a dealer to do this for you.

I offered to pay a dealer the full option price for them to enable via coding on a car they already had in stock & they refused.

In the end I didnt buy the car from them.

I guess VAG dont let the dealers "officially" reprogram software configuration like this otherwise the paying public would realise how much of a con most of the optional features actually are... ;)

What did you try to do via VCDS?

Shhhh, otherwise they might further “develop” the car software and VCDS might get more and more limited with what changes can be made

All the Black writing in my Signature are the things I've had " Turned On " via VCDS. I wonder how much that lot woild have cost ?

How do I enable the locking/unlocking chirp. I really miss that?

I thought there was a difference between the fogs on those with cornering capabilities and ordinary fogs. Don't the former have two bulbs in the housing and the latter only one? (Open to correction)

I have ordinary (one light) fogs fitted on my very basic (South Australian) 2014 Mk3 and they get very little use because 1) we very rarely get fog and 2) Here it is illegal to drive around with them on in non-foggy conditions.

The hire car I had in the UK in November had additional cornering lighting and they were great and would love similar on my Octavia.

When I turn Octavia fogs on they give off minimal light assistance off to the sides so they would need something else, maybe LED replacements with more suitable light distribution off to the sides.

I’m not sure about two bulbs but I just enbled this on my 2016 vRS using Carista. I will take a peak later and see how bulbs are in the fog :-)

I think the pre-fl vRS has two bulbs in the fog light housing with normal

models just having one. The fl-vRS has an LED module with normal models again just having one bulb. I think that’s correct anyway.

Cornering lights are possible to enable. I had enabled this some times. Its working perfectly. On vrs and not-vrs-models

They have always the same fog lights. Cornering light is only a fucture, which has to be enabled.

Hi all

We (@gizmo and I) tried to enable cornering fogs this morning... But couldn't find the options on vcds, and the beta wouldn't connect to my car.

Not critical,  but if anyone can pass on. Instructions,  we'd be grateful.

My iii 1.5 se face-lift.

This is the set of links I used to enable cornering fogs last week and a host of other tweaks. Read the instructions properly...not like I did initially and finally got all of the ones I wanted to work.  Good luck.

Spelling error and forgot to paste link!

Thanks @Redboy

In pretty sure that's what  was being followed.  I was idly standing by...

How recent are the fl cars you were adapting?

It'll go on the list of things to look for next time...

On O3 FL it is also possible to enable cornering lights.

I did it several times

Thanks @djduese

I altered my pre-FL which I think is 2015 MY, built Nov-Dec 14, delivered Jan 15. I assume that the coding hasn't altered greatly. It took me a couple if goes because I simply didn't read all of the instructions carefully enough. All sorted now.

Yes those were followed to the letter (including increasing the brightness from 0 to 100%)

it it may be worth you checking them again tomorrow Dave once the car had been powered down all night.
