Good Shark Experience

Featured Replies

Massive fan of Shark software - made my Mk2 FL vRS TSI feel like a different car.

Great result - did they do a pre-run on the dyno before applying the map? If so, what was it pulling standard?

Nice mate,

Good results there.

How much was it just out of interest? Is it a generic map or did they do a bit of adjusting?

Great result on the power, love the Green too! How did this affect your insurance premium?

Good experience today. Driven for 38 years, first ever map, Shark stage1. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It was already a nice quickish car. The map feels smooth and progressive,  rapidly building up torque and revs, it pulls hard right to the rev limit. The in-gear acceleration is noticeably improved . I did a short test drive at Shark's and the car started to lose traction in 4th on the slightly damp road surface before it got to 60. Three dyno runs showed 297/295/291 Bhp, so more than I thought, even allowing for any degree of Dyno machine optimism and despite using the original 26000 mile air filter and plugs. I agreed to change them if the result was below the predicted 280-285 Bhp, but didn't bother. I am trying not to floor it below 1800-2000 rpm to conserve the clutch, which seems fine, time will tell.  Fuel economy over 69 miles at avg speed of 41 Mph even with intermittent test squirts was 40 mpg. Excuse the shaky dyno picture.

Kinda might wanna talk to Peter Dury is it ? with the 320bhp 230preFL about what clutch he got, cos I reckon sooner or later, your gonna need it !!!

Yep massive fan of shark too. Had my tdi 184 done there a couple weeks Avon and it’s a different beast now. Smooth and progressive and torque is exactly where you need it

Going to AW Tuning in Kent this Saturday for a Shark Stage 1 tune (via remote funtimes with Mansfield), having chatted to the Shark boys fairly consistently over last few months. Will be receiving a stock Stage 1 (for VRS 220) for the 230, but likely will improve response and power either way.

Good to hear your positive feedback.

Let us know how you get on with the clutch - I'll be saving up for one in 12-months time, then maybe progressing to Stage 2 dependent on if I can afford regular front tyres...

No pre-run dyno, I didn't realise that I had booked a dyno but am pleased we did it. Prior to the map it was nippy in 2nd and 3rd  but it comes on earlier and stronger now.

30% reduction for Black Friday offer took it to £350, plus £50 for the dyno, which was worth it. Jake did an initial read of the car, sent it to Ben, who then checked it and sent a compatible/custom map back. Jake said straight after the dyno test that it felt like a good smooth map and that they sometimes need to be tweaked. From that I suppose there's a base map,  which Ben tweaks to suit your engine and transmission, if it dynos ok then presumably it's a good map and it's left alone. They then let me test drive it and even in the short bit of NSL A road I quickly felt the difference, which I described in the 1st post.

Cheers. £120 extra with Sky. ( Not the tv company)  Green is good. Stays clean and looks really good (I think) in bright sunshine or dusk. 'Brave' choice, Had a MkII Corrida red VRS for 7 years otherwise I would have had red.

Yes, although most of my driving is rural, i.e. Less clutch useage than a town driver. Although it's too early to say you're probably right, hopefully it will be cheaper than a new car. :-)

Mines mapped by shark performance stage 2 330bhp and 520nm of torque but it'll be stage 3 next year being over 400bhp

Christ that's atrocious! :o  And I really like Rallye Green.

Wonder how much they charge for Sprint Yella?

On a serious note, good figures.  Very tempting.  I've Shark and Revo dealers both about 1.5 hours away from me.  Hard to know which way to jump.

Hard to choose which colour huh? Have you thought of a non-Skoda colour? I've had Corrida red, I think race blue is great, obviously lots of others think the same as there's just too many around, Meteor grey nice, probably have to wash it a bit to keep the nice effect.  When I got the green, it was like marmite, some loved it, some were positively rude  . When I sold my VFR 750, I wanted the Kawasaki and green was the best colour. The Dunlops, what a brilliant racing family, I expect you're on the FB Dunlop group also.

Yes I am indeed. The armoy road race gets acclaim now as the best in Europe, draws HUGE crowds. It passes the bottom of my lane and the same lads camp out every year in my garden. Still a long heritage of road racing here.

My Vrs is meteor grey just joking as it's gets called primer on here :D

it almost looks like you got the bike sprayed to match the car.
