Hey all

 

Has anyone swapped out the back boxes on their petrol RS230's for a more sporty sounding system, im just taking the back box bits. If so what brand did you go with, have you a video of the difference. And finally does the new exhaust still fit into the cutouts at the back as I would not want to remove those.

 

Btw....anyone seen the upcoming Hyundai i30 N, it sounds amazing....this is the exhaust system Skoda should be putting into their RS models moving forward

 

 

If it’s just the back boxes I’d go custom. Probably cheaper too

Yes but what,,,,any ideas of names or sellers etc....or do you just mean a steel back box ? I had a quote for two steel custom back boxes of €440 fitted which seems crazy....

i had a quote off a company in Manchester to have both rear boxes removed they quoted £200

As per your post re: the sound actuator (and my comment re: chopping and changing) - I'm sure only a custom job would work, but sadly don't know of any places (UK or Ireland) that would do it for a decent price. 

 

A bigger downpipe would improve the sound - but again, not sure how efficiently (££ and complexity) that would work with OEM 230 exhaust.

The Pre FL 230 had a different exaust from the Pre FL 220 Vrs. Does the FL 230  get the same exaust as the pre FL 230 ?

 

The Pre FL Vrs gets the Q-Diff, does the FL get the Q-Diff as well. ?

The cheapest way would be to remove the centre box and put a straight pipe in place, loads of the gti/r boys do it. It would cost no more than £100. Parts available of eBay too if your handy with the tools

Looks like other members think the same    

UK based but I have had work carried out by both of these companies on different vehicles & quality to workmanship is second to none, A friend of mine has just 2 custom back boxes on his BMW 6:45 from hayward & scott done around 6 years ago now & sounds like a beast, might be better for you to ring up these places, get a quote & might be cheaper to get on a ferry over to the UK?
