Perez defo got away lightly with the swipe on Sirotkin, but I think gets the benefit of the doubt when Ocon stuck his car in a stupid place on lap 1.

Perez was surely looking at the Haas on his inside at turn 3 when the Force India's rear tyres made first contact on the other side.

  • Ironically, the last time a backmarker took the leader out in F1, that backmarker was none other than Jos Verstappen

the way he's been driving in the first few races, it wouldn't be a surprise if Max ended up in the front row of the grandstand / marina

  • As usual the super-mature Max and Seb both laid the blame for their collisions on the other party. The stewards disagreed with those opinions.   W4nkers both.

Slightly surprised that Max Vercrashing didn't! ;)

Finally Marcus slo-mo Ericsson gets the push. Ferrari have nominated Giovinazzi for "their" seat at Sauber in 2019. The Hinwil team have already signed Kimi for "their" seat.

About time too.

RedBull sales down in Russia? Seriously, he's the best they can get since Buemi isn't interested in coming back from WEC/Formula E, and they won't take a Mercedes driver "on principle" lol.

Bo77as back on form. Pole at one of his really good tracks. The long run to the first turn will make him vunerable though.

Max passing 14 cars in 9 laps.

Now how long can the top 4 go on their tyres?

Amazing drive by Max, but RBR made it a damp squib at the end, saving engine life for future races instead of chasing Kimi.

STR were just a joke in the race but at least Honda get to keep their new hi-power engine for Suzuka.

Always boring at Sochi, unfortunately the circuit doesn't allow racing, but it does allow Vlad a few moments of worldwide TV every year.

Were the softer tyres that Max put on no better than the normal softs then you reckon or that he just did not try to catch Kimi ?

Fortunately there was lots of other sport on ie Superbikes, WTC, even the golf was more interesting than the F1 and I thought I would never say that.

Congrat to Ana C for becoming the first FIA (solo) female world champion today in the WSS 300 (on her 400 cc bike).

Seconded!

Hartley qualified 6th, well done, but then Gasly felt the need to bitch about it. "He only beat me because he had more power wah wah wah"

Pierre is going to need a huge book of excuses next year when he's teamed up with another moaning kid - but one who's much faster than him.

I expect Max to destroy him in the manner of Alonso / Vandoorne (currently 21-0 on most recent qualifying positions).

Entertaining GP, apart from the winner who was untroubled. My personal highlight, possibly equally happily noted by RedBull, was the crappy old Renault steaming past the latest high power Honda to take the last point for 10th place. RBR and Max must so be looking forward to next year:D

Surprise. In the Seb and Max race to have most accidents this year, they both scored - but as usual it wasn't their fault, especially when they hit each other.

Personally I don't think a 5 second penalty is enough when you rip the bargeboard off your victims car and ruin his handling for the whole race. Both Ferrari lost a bargeboard in contact with the RedBull.

Max clearly at fault for the collision with Kimi but surely Seb would have expected Max to close the door at Spoon Curve. I believe there are as yet undiscovered tribes in deepest darkest Peru that knew that Max would shut the door, so why did Seb put his car at risk? He would have cruised past on the straight with DRS in less than half a lap.

A whole catalogue of mistakes by Ferrari this weekend, effectively gift-wrapping the title for Lewis.

keep up mate, Eddie Jordan formally declared the championship over 2 races ago on Channel 4 in Singapore

Vettel's current propensity for errors is precisely why Ferrari are bringing in new blood in Leclerc. I say current but it was the same last year too. I don't think Arrivabene really believes in Seb any more.

Verstappen / Renault war of words drags on this weekend.

Just listened to Horners take on Max qually suspension failure. waiting for Max or Marko to blame it on Renault :D

Kimi  :clap::clap::clap:.

He normally cant hold off Max but this time he did and a well deserved win was the result.

Ferrari back to being fastest after taking 3 months of "upgrades" off the car.

I did find it amusing that Ferrari took the 'upgrades' off and went faster!

Well done Kimi!

I missed this last week being on hols again but: "Slow Marcus" is off to Indycar!

Are we expecting great things?

Did the team hire him for his talent?

...or just a few new Swedish sponsors at Schmidt Peterson Motorsport and getting air time when the leaders go past??

Really surprising since top team Ganassi have actually just signed a quick Swede in Felix Rosenqvist.

Renault did a great job last weekend. Should have been a 1-2 had a RBR clutch not failed.

Didn't hear Renault moaning afterwards about their "partners" costing them another podium though :)

Cant believe Max crashed into a backmarker and chucked the win away.

Still not hearing Renault moaning about it.

...and then assaults him after the race. It's Suzuka 1993 all over again.

Speaking of Japan, Jenson Button won the hyper competitive SuperGT championship in his rookie year at Motegi today.
