Battery power

Featured Replies

I have an October 2013   Fabia tsi estate. I have spent ages trying to find out who makes the battery and what the amps per hour unput is but to no avail. There is no writing at all on the battery expect for 595 928 RA on the top by the "magic eye "I may be needing a new battery soon and the local  main dealers charge  a lot for this; one quoted £137 supply and fit and the other quoted an eye watering £201 supply and fit. that I do not even have "start stop" technology and I   shudder to think what they would quote if I did have stop start. I contacted my local independent garage and he quoted £73 for a Bosch and they didnt charge charge for fitting.  They asked for my reg and whether I "stop start" before quoting.  I havent bought a battery in years and the dealers prices really shocked me, If someone out there can tell me what the amps per hour figure is on an original Skoda Fabia battery  would I then  reasonably expect any replacement battery to be at least as powerful? If anyone has any experience of Bosch batteries I would like to know how these fared in service. Should I stick with the main dealers or would I be OK going to my independent on this?  I wasnt given a Bosch model number, just a price Iand they wont be open for a few days now because of Xmas. If  anyone in the Briskoda community can help me with any of my concerns I will be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Local Motor Factors are open tomorrow,

they can supply exactly the battery you require. No Main Dealer rip offs.   Even check a Halfords price, just to compare.

I have a 2011 1.6 TDI CR.

While the battery seemed fine at nearly 7 years old I decided to replace it.

The size is the generic code 027 - 242mm long, 175mm wide and 190mm high. As you do not have stop/start the exact AH and CCA ratings are not critical but the higher the values the better the battery quality and more in reserve if you have another fault.

Bosch and Varta are the same, just different codes.

They do 3 variants

56AH & 480 CCA with 3 year warranty Bosch Code S3005

60AH & 540A CCA with 4 year warranty Bosch Code S4005

63AH & 610A CCA with 5 year warranty Bosch Code S5005, Varta D15

While fitted I could not see the exact details of the original but once removed it was a Varta.

Unless you do a lot of short stop-start journeys or leave your lights on parked any will be fine.

If you intend to keep the car for several years go for the best.

I got a Varta D15 for a good price and I recall about £11 more than the 3 year version.
