Nice car, really nice. Only the wheels let it down

The wheels are not the ones we ordered and, any day now, we will have the nice fancier ones fitted to correct matters. Thanks for the compliments though. It draws so many favourable comments from friends and family.

Just traded in my Yeti for a new Karoq DSG. My first car with an electric parking brake (in place of the normal hand brake) also has the Auto hold function. I always over ride the start stop function, (most annoying feature especially at rounds abouts)

In the Yeti i would go into Neutral and apply the hand brake.

with the Karoq the hand book states that there is no need to apply the electric brake as the Auto hold function kicks in.

OK, so does this still apply if i over ride the start stop feature and go into neutral at traffic light, round abouts ETC.?

On my manual Superb the electric brake come on automatically when you use the footbrake to stop. To move off I just put the car in gear and press the go pedal. The electric brake automatically releases.  Hated it at first, couldn't manage without it now...

Hi Rifleman, thank you for your feed back. Just had a read of the owners manual, on a DSG the Auto hold doesn’t function when in neutral but should be able to tell by the the instrument gauge, if electric parking brake kicks in an icon should show up on the gauge. So many new gadgets to get used to. Thanks again for taking the trouble to reply.

Forget to mention that with my manual gearbox once the brake has come on automatically the drivers door MUST be closed before it will release again e.g. reversing into a parking space, stop half way in and open door to check clearance, brake will not release automatically  until you close the door...

I think the wheels look fine and they'd be very quick and easy to clean - similar to the VW Aspen winter wheels on our Tiguan at the moment.  The standard wheels on our Tiguan are a right pain to clean - loads of spokes in pairs and the gap between the two spokes of each pair is too narrow to get anything but a rag in to clean them.

Hi rifleman, thanks for your email.

been out in the car today, first time this week, and found that when stationary with engine running and in neutral and off of the foot brake the icon comes up on the instrument gauge a green parking brake, so now we know how it works. Few other things to get used to that are new to me like the parking assist, reversing camera ECT, but all in good time. Any way thanks again for your help.
