Hello! My Head unit is 5E0035819A, so won't work with an aftermarket camera from China? Thank you so much!

My understanding is if the bottom left button on the screen is "TP" then no you can't use an aftermarket camera (as in photo below).

It needs to be the model with a "VOICE" button an bottom left.

Yes, my unit has button TP and i have coded camera and doesn't work, when i put in reverse, no image and no sensor parking, only an error on vcds...

I'm afraid you're out of luck so, same as myself.

I got as far as routing the cable through the headliner and adding the camera before I read that it won't work on my Bolero.

There are photos on the web with a Bolero screen with "TP" and a reversing camera image but I believe this is an additional unit as the same site shows a Bolero MIB1 with sat nav on it too and no "NAV" button.

Edit: found the page, from a company in Australia

I am interesting to retrofit to Columbus Mib1. I've found for a good price on a site from UK. About 600 euro with shipping and they said that will code for my VIN...  Do you know something about vagtec.co.uk?

Edited by bgd1106

I have read a lot of bad reviews about vagtec.co.uk...

Does anyone have a link from aliexpress with a reverse camera that is tested?

I recently ordered one with bigger dimensions for MY2016 and view angle is so wide that i can see my bumper and trunk on screen :D

Thanks, please have in mind that i need this one

The image is not so bad :P. I have bought from Aliexpress one, but i haven't received yet. Depends on the dimension of trunk hand... I want to make a retrofit to Columbus Mib2. First i have bought from ebay a display with a small line for a good price and latter i will buy the unit... Are some problems with that virus in my country

it works with all models of bolero as long as they have the bluetooth unit.

If your headunit is any of the model numbers listed then it wont work, your out of luck.

5E0035820
5E0035812A
5E0035819A
5E0035820A

I have Bolero MIB 1 with no nav and it works perfectly.

its fairly easy to fit your self and only require routing the video to the front of the car and splicing the power and some VCDS mods to get it to work. Took me 2 hours all in.

I have the "device part number" 5E0035820A but also have blue tooth functionality?

You need one with the Voice commands.

Thanks SashaGrace - i was just a little curious myself so, checked my car anyway. I am personally after retrofitting my Octavia Estate with Cruise Control .... but trying to justify the cost ( we do travel to Europe often ) - perhaps i've answered my own question...

Hi everyone

Is there anybody who could give me some guidelines for the washer part?

I got an original Highline ka2 RVC with washer and I just installed it this weekend. But I couldn't figure out where should I attach the washer pipeline.

I guess it is from the third break light, but when I removed the trim panels I couldn't see any access to it.

Anybody with some experience who already did it? how to get to it?

Thanks in advance

HI.

Fitting a rear view camera has been on my list of wants for some time, I did consider PXing my 1.4 TSI Elegance Estate with ACC and park assist for something newer but I like the Elegance and spec as I have now so really cannot justify spending a large wad of cash just to upgrade a little. My car has done just over 22k since 2015.

My Amundsen MIB1 has the Voice button bottom left, in the 5+ years I have owned it I do not remember ever having pushed that button! But it would seem I  need that function in order to connect the rear view camera. Anyway, what puts me off doing that job are the references to VCDS and coding, I don't have VCDS and do not want to screw up my car guessing what I am doing. I was hoping there was a Plug & Play unit/option available?

The camera image won't appear on the infotainment screen without it having a coding change done, so IMHO plug'n'play isn't possible.

Thanks for the reply Dave. That's a pity, I do not think spending another £225.00 on the VCSD just to view what is behind me is value for money, I have used the sensors for the last 5 years and not managed to crease the bumper yet!

You don't need to buy/own VCDS yourself, look at this thread on briskoda for VCDS owners near you who will help out for a nominal amount (often beer tokens!) List of VCDS Owners

Thanks again, I will check it out and see who maybe in striking distance 😀

Thanks for the link.

My Octavia is older  reg' 1st March 2015, probable built end of 2014 or Jan 15.

The Aliexpress web site has the following:

Product description

This is a high technology product for Volkswagen, Skoda and Audi system, Which is based on MQB system (new model) or PQ System (old model) from 2016. Some of 2015 model maybe ok but it needs some code jobs. It will read the command from CANBUS system of Car Computer and control the camera on/off and parking line moving. The camera works with our harness only. It can't work separately. It means that it will not work with the CANBUS command only. It supports OEM harness and OEM monitor ONLY, plug and play! If the monitor is NOT original monitor, it can't work well.

It says to send photos of the parts so they can identify whether it will work or need coding. Just hope I can find the parts they want photographed!

I have the Octavia mk3 5e 2013 model and it won't connect to rear view camera. All I get is a black screen a warning down below and adjustements of brighteness when I put in reverse. What's wrong with it?

did you do the required VCDS work?

Yes of course I did. When I put reverse it goes black screen and it shows a warning at the bottom of the screen and adjustments for brightness etc. When I connect the camera to a simple 4.3 inch monitor I have perfect image. I get power from the battery and ground from the trunk. I tried taking power positive from the CD unit but it's only 6 or 7 volts I don't remember and the camera needs 12v. Can you tell me how to properly connect the wires just to check if I am doing something completely wrong? Also I did the little blue interface wiring but no change. I am waiting for a power rectifier to put just in case ...I will put a FOTO of my unit so you know. Also I seen a couple o people saying that if I have a TP button down lower side of my screen and not a VOICE it won't work. I have a TP button
