I’m new to this forum and wondered if anyone has experienced this.

my citigo is great but the tyre size is 165 70 14 

I’m finding it hard to get new tyres as they are few and far between and expensive compared to an alternative size 175 65 14 which is found on the green tech with alloys.

if I change all four tyres the same time will they fit the steel rims 

has anyone done this as the tyres are much cheaper and of better quality 

 

 

The answer is yes. There is a marginal difference in circumference which you will not notice.

I checked the Greentech I picked up yesterday and that has 175/65-14 on standard steel wheels.

Hi guys, I have also 165/70 R14. I am considering to change tyres. Does minor change to 175/65 R14 noticably improve handling of the car? Or should I go to much more expensive 16" alloy wheels with 185/50 tyres? Does anybody have an experienced with this upgrade? I would like to make my citigo better for longer journyes. 

Personally, I wouldn't go to the 16" wheels. The lower the profile the worse the ride and more prone to bring wrecked by potholes. The Citigo corners like it's on rails on the 165s so I would see no point in the 16" ones other than for looks.

Thanks you for opinion. I probably stay with my R14. Especially here in Slovakia. We have terrible roads.

Mrs G's CitiGo runs on 185/55/15 tyres, the ride is spot on...............

Same here, rides perfect on the 15” alloys. 

Hankook make a great tyre that is 65dbi one bar on noise good on wet grip and fuel, quietens down road noise.

Both 165/70R14 and 175/65R14 are common tyre sizes and cheap.

 

You can get Vredestein Quatrac 5 in either of these sizes for under £40. Even the normally expensive Michelin CrossClimate tyres are available for under £50.

 

I would go for the 175/65R14 over the 165/70R14 for better cornering.

 

They both fit the same 5Jx14 ET35 4x100 57.1 rim.
